Franklin to Headline versus Kampmann in June UFC
The next chapter in Rich Franklin's quest to regain the UFC middleweight crown will unfold on June 16 Sherdog.com has learned, when "Ace" faces Martin Kampmann (Pictures) in the main event of UFC's first foray into Ireland.
In his return to the Octagon after losing the belt to Anderson Silva, the 32-year-old Franklin easily stopped Jason MacDonald in early March. On that same card Kampmann, 24, endured Drew McFedries' power before winning by arm-triangle choke.
Having won each of his three UFC contests, the Dane (15-2-0) gets a chance to prove he belongs among the best at 185 when he steps in against Franklin (21-2-0, 1 NC; 8-1 in the UFC).
It's expected Zuffa will officially announce the fight during Thursday's UFC Fight Night telecast from Las Vegas on SpikeTV.
Also, a fight between Forrest Griffin and Hector Ramirez is being discussed.

Yeah! I picked this fight in the "You pick the dream PPV" thread. or whatever. I see Franklin taking this one. Kampmann was picked apart by McFedries but got the win by exploiting McFedries inexperience. No way Franklin gets taken down like that and if McFedries can outstrike Kampmann then Rich Franklin should be able to outstrike Kampmann.
BTW, I love watching all three of these guys, hell I hope McFedries is on this card against a Scott Smith, Pete Sell, Chris Leben type.

Honestly, I think jason macdonald had more of a chance than kampmann will....i love kampmann, I think he's cool, but he only won against mcfredries, as mentioned above, by exploiting his inexperience
Franklin via TKO. Kampmann had trouble with McFedries mainly because of his style. Kampmann said he had little experience fighting against south paws. Franklin is not a south paw so I think Kampmann will do fairly well on his feet. Franklin has more power but Kampmann has better speed and accuracy. He prolly won't KO or TKO Franklin but Kampmann is a lot stronger than he looks. If you will remember from the McFedries fight how he threw the much larger framed McFedries down to the ground like he was nothing. If Kampmann wants to win he will have to get top position on the ground and prolly look for a sub. I don't know if he can TKO Franklin, but it's not impossible I guess. I wouldn't say McDonald had a better chance, that's kind of ridiculous. Kampmann has showed he knows submissions as well as standup with an equal amount of submission wins and tko/ko wins. Kampmann definately has a better chance and the kid can take one hell of a shot. This is gonna be one hell of a fight and not an easy one for Franklin at all. I think you guys are gonna be pleasantly surprised at Kampann's showing. He is NOT going to get dominated. I want Kampmann to win but I just have a feeling Franklin will get the W this time. But it will be a fun fight.
Check out this vid if you aren't impressed with Kampmann:
Here guys, watch the McFedries fight again. Kampmann was losing the standup but he didn't do all that bad and actually landed quite a few good solid shots. Then watch how easily he controls him on the ground. McFedries is a bit inexperienced, yea, but he's not THAT inexperienced. You can't take the credit away from Kampmann by saying he simply "exposed" him. McFedries trains with Hughes and others, he is not THAT inexperienced. Kampmann worked a beautiful arm triangle that should get praise from you guys not "meh"s.
Really? You could be right, I watched a couple seconds of a highlight vid real quick when I wrote that to see and he wasn't in south paw from what I saw.
EDIT: Damn you're right, just watched his last fight and yep he's a south paw. That sucks ass. Hope Kampmann has been training with south paws since his last fight.
