Stay calm. It's all about controlled aggression. f you get to hyped up you go in tense and when it doesn't go the way you planed BOOM you're waking up. Instead of a kick throw a straight right down the pipe. You don't have to come out every fight guns blazing though.

Come up with a plan and drill it before the fight.

Heard an ex-UFC fighter uses hypnosis. It's obvious it's a mental thing. I don't fight in amateur fights, but I'm all offensive...I HATE being on the defensive. My philosophy is..."attack is to win...defend is to lose." Of course you want to shore up your defenses, but if you're mind is constantly thinking about defending then what can I say.

Fighting is the ultimate chess game because you're constantly under pressure and have to think and react quickly. I was competitive in sports and one of the classes I remember was "mental toughness." Listening to heavy metal music or watching a Rocky clip before your fight is only temporary. You either have it or you don't.

Marcus Aurelius: Tell me again, Maximus, why are we here?
Maximus: For the glory of the Empire, sire.

Baked, not fried... the healthy choice.

Try to stay more active in sparring and practice, start there. If you can get off first in practice more often than not that will translate into the real thing. I like to flick my jab out constantly from the get go. I'm mainly looking to see someones flinch reaction or how they plan on dealing with my punch then go from there.
