A Question

Here's a question for a more educated person regarding various martial art styles. I'm looking for a martial art that has powerful close-ranged striking, and effective counter-attacks that lead to throws or take-downs that could subdue an opponent, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not looking for a martial art that just has one of these two attributes, like Aikido or Muay Thai, but one that would encompass both sides of the spectrum. Thanks.

Join a MMA club. They have all sorts of martial arts. As im pretty sure thier is no martial art the incorparates Strikes, takedowns and submission. (Well, i think.)

you should look into hapkido. It uses strikes (both punches and kicks), along with throws and joint locks (both minor and major) and it might even offer some submissions (though I don't believe so).

i seen some guys doing some sport jujitsu at my dojo...
once in a while my sensei shows some judo you would do in the street some times, such as a downward lapel drag as you fire a knee into their face, or clasp hand rear naked using wrist flex across the jaw or nose if you can't get under the jaw line

Usually Jiu-Jitsu instructors show you ways that you can combine Jiu-Jitsu with a standup technique just for outside purposes. Look into Pankrase also.
