Has anyone but me heard of this style? Is it useful at all for sport training?

Bump?

My brother invited me to start training Kajukenbo with a friend of his who will not charge me for the training. Should I do it? Of course I've looked at youtube videos and stuff, but it's always best to hear it from anyone with experience

Well it's a little late but maybe I'll catch you. Yeah, I've heard of it. It seems like a cool martial art. It put's you in real world situations with fighting and getting jumped etc. I would say it's legitimate to train but it will all depend on your instructors. They have guys well versed in different types of martial ats. The only thing I hate is that they do not allow you to be on the ground for more than 3-5 secs... So your BJJ will not be very good because they assume fights will never be fairly fought in teh street. Check it out. I would much rather to MMA training with BJJ, MT, Boxing and wrestling but if it's the only thing in the area I woiuld suggest taking it. I hope this helps.

I've heard of it therte's a school in my area. From what I've been able to learn, its essentially the first Mixed Martial Art invented in the 50's. Before mixing martial arts was anything other than taboo.

My area's Kajukenbo school is goofy as hell. That's why I didn't take it. Its really...nationalistic and has a weird ethical code. But on the whole the art is good. I'd like to learn it if I could find a school that wasn't weirdo.
