Improving Flexibility for Roundhouse kicks

I have some rather low roundhouse kicks because I'm not very flexible. Could anyone help me out with some stretches that would improve my flexibility for higher more comfortable kicks?

My coach showed me some but they mostly involved those stupid stretching balls and I'm not a big fan of them, or have any.

Rep for anyone that can help

Here are some that require no equipment.

Do this after you've worked out you legs, rather than before.

Lunges, side splits, front splits. These stretch the groin, which is the most important thing that needs to be flexible for roundhouse kicks. Well, the side splits do, but front splits never hurt.

Also, try squatting and putting you forearms against the inside of you thighs near your knees. Push your legs apart. that also stretches the groin.

Again, its very important to do this as a cool down. Maximum resuls come from doing this after you work out. On the flip-side every time that you don't stretch after working out makes you more inflexible than before.

Highly opinionated but out of touch with the current MMA scene.

Awsome, thanx a bunch Kin. I'll try these out after my leg workout after school.

My coach always sais stretch before working out to avoid injury and stretch after working out to improve flexibility.

Try these 2 for starters.

eddie1.gif
Stretches the groin which effects the height of your kick.

eddie2.gif
Stretches the hamstrings which effects both the height and power of your kick.

Thanks to NikosCC for the sick sig!

Stretch Stretch Stretch.

What I do to stretch my legs to heighten my kicks are I usually start out kicking as low as I can and then try to kick higher and higher and higher until I can't go anymore.

Also if you've ever watched GSP warm up. He does this stretch kick kind of like the Rockettes do he kicks all the way up and high as he can in the air and to the side.

Hope this helps

you're not as flexible as a 12 year old chinese gymnast, but you can kick about as high as a chinese 12 year old... and I don't mean proportionately.

EDIT: btw, BOOM ANOTHER HIT R LANDED
