Just taking boxing/muay thai class for the first time, need advice

Hey, I'm just getting started with boxing/muay thai classes near my university and the class requires us to buy a pair of boxing gloves and hand wraps. I obviously have no problem with this, but I pretty much only pay attention to technique and the fights when I watch MMA and I don't really know the little things like what makes a good boxing glove or what makes good handwraps.

So I was wondering if you guys could give me some tips on what kinds of boxing gloves and handwraps I should buy. I've been mostly looking at combatsports.com but if you guys have any other recommendations that would be great. Thanks!

--Sorry if this belongs in the gear and equipment section, please move if it does.

Dont waste time buying from online stores, just go to a local sporting goods store like Modells or Dicks and pick up some Everlast handwraps and 14-16oz Training gloves. Learn some techniques and skills first and then you can go get some better equipment if you want.

TWINS is a good brand for gloves http://www.muaythaistuff.com/muay_th...ing_gloves.php
they got a decent sale on it...
if you are planning to do MT for a while, might as well invest in good quality gear.

Twins and combat sports all super good quility gear expecially if you plan on practacing for a while. I dont agree with just going out and getting ur shit from everlast. If you actually plan on staying it and learning, then spend the extra money on the good stuff, it will last forever. Handwraps and small things like that, yeah buy that from local places.

Get a good product that you like if you plan on staying, if it is something that you are unsure of then you can always sell it to a friend or on ebay or something, lol. spend the extra and get good gloves your be glad you did it later
