there goes my dojang
Mods feel free to move this thread if you feel it's in the wrong spot.
Every Thursday from 8-9 we spar in my dojang. it rotates between muay thai, self-defense, point, and taekwondo sparring usually. This past week a woman showed up who has a history of poor control, hypercompetitiveness, and inability to channel her competitive impulse in a productive way. She is about 15 years older than me, has been taking tkd in semiprivate lessons for 4 years or so and sparring only one person the whole time. I had a yellow stripe on my orange belt (I have since moved up to green belt) b/c i knocked her down ACCIDENTALLY point sparring for rank about a year ago b/c she's clumsy and uncoordinated. My teacher is trying to go all Yoda on me now that she's sparring, basically telling me to ignore the fact that I don't like her, acting like it'll be a major metaphysical accomplishment with regard to my journey in the martial arts. I think that's total bullsh!t. I don't want to spar her because I'm scared I'll do my normal thing and accidentally hurt her. (I am considerably smaller, faster and more agile, i'm not tooting my own horn b/c this isn't saying much).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
