...i feel like only kung fu and tkd people talk about telegraphing.

never once heard a boxing coach say a thing about telegraphing

its like, you can know a scud missle is coming, but you cant do shit about it, can you?

thats why combinations exist, sure theyre ganna know one punch is coming, but by the 4th one they may not figure out where its going or may not be in a place to block or dodge.

Check the training logs to get an idea of what people are doing, but, realistically, you have to create one that fits into your lifestyle. It's really not going to happen over the internet, because you have to think about what you can reasonably by, what your reasonable calorie intake is and all of these other things.

Realistically, it's much easier for us to stick to abstractions and technical questions, because training and diet are personal issues, and aren't things we can analyze unless we're there with you looking at this stuff.

You've GOT to turn your hips over when you kick. Also, some may disagree, but you need to switch-step before kicking with the lead leg. If you just flick it out there you better follow with a combo or clinch.

Gotta agree about the socks too! Besides dissolving your base, you could easily wipe out and smash your hip or elbow into the concrete.

Also, Bas Rutten's workout and standup stuff will whip you into shape, tie your kicks into your punches, and help you strike with lots of power.

You look real good for just starting out.

Not true. When I worked out with Andre Ward he would always talk to me about telegraphing my punches when I got tired, and it has alot to do with the way I move my shoulders. I've tried hard to correct the problem, and have to some degree, but it still comes back and haunts me some times.

If you see a scud missle coming at you, you can block it, you can knock it down or, if you're fresh and quick, you can get out of the way and counterpunch. If it's a looping, sloppy shot, and many of them are, you can throw a straight counter punch and put your opponent out.

You asked earlier how you can get you legs and hips to move with your punch, so it's not just an arm punch. Practice hitting a baseball with the bat - or throwing a ball as fast as you can - both are the whole body movement you are looking for - though obviously not exactly the same. But if you can one of them well you'll hit harder too.
