Me Hitting The Heavy Bag......some Tips Would Be Great!

its just a mini video of me hitting the heavy bag. im a muay thai fighter who has just started. some tips and good comments on what i should do and what i shouldnt do would be great. thanks.

Looks like you have power... but that's about it.

You should get a double end bag and work on your speed and timing.

But since your just starting out you look pretty good.

Try...

-Staying on the balls of your feet. You're too flat footed.

-Start working combinations

-Move around the bag- don't stay in one place.

-Work on bobbing an weaving- you need to work defense and much as offense, bob and weave around the motion of the bag

-Get some resistance tubing and do some shadow boxing to work fast twitch muscles to develop your speed.

-Keep your hands up while your hitting the bag. Better to learn that in your basement, than during sparring or god forbid a street fight

-Do a lot of stretching

- Use more kicks

great advice! i will deffinaetly try and improve my technique and so on. the one problem i have is keeping my hands up wen throwing punches and footwork and weaving, defense, and etc. but thanks again for the tips

You really need to keep your hands up. If you watch your right hand when you're throwing a left jab or left punch it automatically drops leaving you open for a counter hook or straight. Make sure to keep your hands up, and pivot with your hips when throwing those punches; a lot of them looked sort of like arm punches.

Gotta agree with the arm punching comment, you need to use more body torque on your punches to get even more power.

i know i need to work on my body movement and footwork but do u guys have any advice on how i can improve this? any exercises or weightlifitng routines that would help me?

Take the damn socks off.

You're not going use your hips properly if your feet are slipping.

And as others have said, keep the hands up.

Honestly watch Mike Tyson fights and just study how he moves and uses his body to punch. He was one of the greatest at this, until Don King and coke got ahold of him. One thing you can do is get a rope or string and put it from one wall to another and practice going under in to simulate slipping punches.

Alright I actually watched the whole thing now and you need to turn your hand over a little more on your hooks. If you were hitting without gloves on you would be slapping than hitting with yur fist. Keep your hands up and get your hands back when you throw a punch.
