I was just wondering what martial art/fighting style would be a good training base for standing and striking technique...My local dojo has lots of programs but nothing mma specific. Should i get into american style boxing, muay thai, or kick boxing? what are the advantages and disadvantages of each? and is learning savate style any good? I believe they have that too.
Ok thanks for the tip. Is that the only thing i should cocentrate on for standup? Or should i study some boxing too? Muay thai seems to be more about elbows and knees than punches too. Just wondering
all Martial Arts are made for its time... Tae Kwon Do was all legs so that you can fight with a gun in your hand, while Judo was so that you can counter a guy with a sword in his hand, muaythai was for guerilla warfare and so on... there is no best MA.. Just tough it out bro, it really doesnt matter.. all this MA mumbo jumbo, just learn to take punches, and just shadow box, its the best way, do it in front of a mirror though and correct yourself..
Choi Bae Dal didnt need any of this, he toughed it out, went up in the mountains and dedicated himself to be strong, and he did get strong, in the end he beat all the japanese martial artists by going around dojos like miyamoto musashi back in his days
Try everything in your area and find what suits you (NOT what is easiest, what you think feels better for you- dont get mixed up there)
