Ill give you some general advice that worked for me my first time out to bat and as worked for a couple of guys. Your first time out your going to be nervous and thats a given but how long it takes you to get your rhythym is whats going to determine if you win or lose your first fight.

1. If your nervouse take in one deep breathe close your eyes and just let it all out this is a stress releiving technique that a lot of muay thai guys use. It releases endorfins in your body and is medically proven to work if you can focus.

2. try visualizing your win the ring and everything before the fight. When you shaddow box visualize yourself fighting in the ring against your opponent and visualize yourself fighting the fight right before the fight visualize all of your training all the hard work you put in and all the hours of sparring. Use that to help you prepare.

3. When you get in the ring try to get the first shot. If you can go out there and get the first hit with that one punch you will release a lot of tension and start setting your pace in the fight soon after that you will get so envolved you will forget whats going on and get absorbed in the fight.

if you need any advice or anything pm me ill be more then willing to help

yeah usually if you can set the pace first in an amatuer match you will keep it going through out the fight. Who ever lands the first shot and sets his pace will usually win. Amatuers usually dont have the experience to pull themselves out of bad situations.

Just set up your game plan and stick to it.

To the original poster what are your streghnths and whats your main dicipline? What do you know of this other fighter?

gojo ryu is strong karate... Im assuming you have powerful punches if youve been training in gojo ryu so try to finish the fight as soon as possible. Wait for your oppertunity and pick your shot your proabbly only going to need one and then finish.

Dont be afraid to stand right back up if you dont like the direction things are going on the ground. You should be able to overwhelm him standing up.

well good luck with ur fight. and remember to keep your poise. i have my first fight this saturday and ive been training my butt off like crazy. so i hope all is well too. Remember if ur being overwhelmed or peppered by punches next best thing is the clinch or hooks to body lock and try to take it to the ground and stand right back up. Ive seen that end fights bc people dont like to be slammed. well again good luck!

Try to keep your composure and focus.

After my first fight I had such a huge adrenaline drump I fainted. Thank god it was in the car on the way to my friends house.

Pace yourself. The most scary thing in a fight is being tired when the person your fighting isnt.

wow that last part is true. i have my first mma fight this saturday and im nervous as shit! i just sparred hard with my instructor and he smoked me for 3-3 min rounds! We probably shouldnt have went so hard but i figured if im to get hit hard or pushed it might as well be by my instructor first! I have no idea who im fighting and im going in at 205 and against someone close to my weight and skill. Its a super amt fight so they try to match skill level up. I have more or less 6 months of training and im in good shape. Its a learning lesson so... Good Luck to u bro and make sure u keep poise, control the pace, and where the fight is going.
