I have always been under the impression that people who study ninjitsu today are Live Action Role Players. I have met and trained with a few ninjitsu guys and well I wasn't impressed.
I did have a chance to meet a group in Yosemite on a hike to half dome. Cause when you see a group of guys hiking up the hill with their kendo sticks you begin to wonder and ask a few questions. They make yearly trips to half dome around the same time a year I head up there.
When I ran into them again in the little valley, I had a chance to witness them train. All I can say is that I was pretty impressed, they were sparring full contact. It really looked like they had their heads in the right place when it came to training practically. I was expecting to see they all lined up perfectly throwing snap punches in the air with a loud scream.
Now I am not saying they are totally awesome sauce, but I think they understand what is practical training.

Watching them beat each other with the kendo sticks was f*cking great.
