Purpose of kick to inside thigh

I heard kicks to the inside of the thigh are intended for a vein or artery that if hit enough or just right can make a leg go limp, is this so? I know they just hurt anyway but i heard this comment on a show or something and finding out what the truth is on it. Thanks!

I'm not sure if the artery comment is completely true, but I definitely would believe it. As for getting kicked to the inside thigh, every move comes from the energy directed from your legs, and if you can't use your leg, you basically lose your power. Try it yourself, imagine not being able to use one of your legs while punching or kicking or even trying for a take down and you will see how much it affects the MMA game.

I dunno about the artery but I think they would be aimed at the muscles. Battering the muscles in that area restricts 100% movement and alters their center of balance as if bad enough they can't put as much weight on it as usual.

I've been kicked on the inside of my leg right above the knee and had an extremely sore knee for well over a week.

There's a bunch of stuff close to the skin around the inside thigh. The femoral artery, the great saphenous vein, and as already mentioned the sciatic nerve are a few that I remember being in that general area.

I'm not a doctor (my dad is though, and for years I've read some of his journals when I was um... sitting around and looking for reading material) so I could be wrong. If you want more info, I'd google those three (my spelling should be pretty close) or go to Wikipedia and find them.

Some people think that they can convey either a philosophy on life or a complex political statement using a signature on the internet. I'm not one of them.

Outside of the thigh hits the quads, inside can hit the hamstrings.

But the nerves generally run deep to the bone, near the artery, and you would have a better chance kicking to the inside than outside - but if anyone has muscular legs, you're probably not going to be able to.

Either way, it's just about hammering the muscles. Watch Paul Varelens vs. Marco Ruas.

Defecato, ergo sum.

sciatic
and i could be wrong but i think it is on the outside which is why outside leg kicks hurt so much and also why you try to check them to get hit in the front instead of the outside
