which on are you?
Boxing Styles: Swarmer, Slugger, Boxer, Boxer-Puncher | How To Box
I would say i am more of a swarmer, you know relentless and agressive and can throw a decent punch.

Swarmer /Slugger
I am a swarmer/ slugger. I am an inside fighter who likes to get his opponents off balance, but I have plenty of power for one punch KO's. I have a good chin, but I need to work on my defense some. I tend to take punches I really don't have to sometimes.~Nathan

never reli though about it before but I'd say im a swarmer. stay to the outside and wear the guy down for a few rounds and then go for the flury (not sure if that is what a swarmer is but that's how i box). If I have the wrong name feel free to correct me. I know you will lol

Shadowslan, click the underlined link in the original post.
doublelegtakedown: if you want to land KO punches, you've gotta use your legs.
Squats help alot. I don't do them, because I have 31" thighs and I am an easy gainer. If I do leg work, I won't be able to find pants that fit right (I keep splitting them in the crotch). I have to wear "ghetto" pants as it is...
However I squat in the 400-500lbs range (haven't maxed in a long time...)
So I don't really need to work them.
Using your legs and learning how to let power flow through with good form will make even quick punches and jabs land with authority.
My last KO, I slipped my opponents right cross and hit him with a quick right srtaight at an upward angle. I quickly got back into position to block any counterpunches and looked over my gloves to see my opponent on the floor. Suprised me! My opponent was 6'3" 280lbs and I am 5'10" and was 190lbs at the time.
When I slipped under that punch and came up with the right straight, my legs were bent and then exploding upward, so a good bit of my 190lbs (at the time) was behind that quick punch.
However, I fought again that night and continued to fight after I dislocated my left (previously injured) shoulder. Got my ass handed to me, shoulda quit while I was ahead.~Nathan

i would say rotational exercises would be more beneficial then squats because you rotate a lot in a cross/hook/uppercut to generate the power.

squats
Define "rotational exercises" please.
If you want strong punches, you need strong legs. The best way to strengthen legs is through squats. Of course I do not mean to imply exclusivity and of course other exercises are to be encouraged. However, the squat is called the "king of exercises" for a reason. Working the major muscles in the legs also releases natural gowth hormones for better overall size/strength gains.
Sure, there is a lot of rotation in lotsa punches, but ALL good punches utilize the legs.~Nathan

Yeah, I'm not a boxer, though I'll start doing some club boxing once I go off to college. Right now I'm kind of an opportunistic swarmer. I move alot and then fire off a lot off punches with all of the strength I have, but that's not my forte.
For me, really all I'm trying to do is set up a takedown. Once I get the takedown then I'm where I belong.
