Sparring with Friends Rules

Whenever my friends and i are sparring we do strikes kicks grapples knees and elbows, but no face shots. When you guys are sparring with friends, not competition or anything, do you do face shots? We have gloves but most are afraid of getting hit in the face. Do you also think its good to spar with face shots just to get used to it? Thanks =D

If you guys are afraid of face shots (thats pretty silly).. you should get some head gear..

Also, you should sign up to a gym.. so you can train for real and not just punch your friends in the chest (I cant even imagine what this looks like)...

I dont even understand how you spar without face shots.. that changes everything.. since you dont have to defend your face at all.

I highly recommend a mouth guard also, especially if you might be head kicking each other, and also because it's fun to really be able to go to town on somebody knowing you're as protected as you can be.

Fighting with your friends in the backyard is not sparring. That is what's known as horseplay, tomfoolery, or shenanigans. It's also a good way to get someone hurt. My advice would be that you stop beating each other up and join a real gym. Failing that, get some mouthguards, some cups, and facepunch away.

"I don't want them to like me, because when I'm in the ring, punches fly to the face. It is not a tenderness time. I am not falling in love. And he knows that when the fight starts I am kicking faces."

Sounds more like foreplay than sparring.

Yeah and face shot sounds a bit too much like cum-shot for my liking

I used to have a vid of me and my friends in high school ghetto boxing at a park, it was pretty bad ass. I was the only one wit any experience so I jus picked people apart, but my one friend threw haymakers and KO'd my other buddy. If I find it ill post it on youtube.

When I spar with friends we generally only use kicks and strikes, anywhere but the groin. But since it's sparring and only for fun we only put about 40% force into the strikes, and I personally aim right before the person instead of past them.
