Wing Chun - cross train

hai

ive been doing wing chun for a year...and i thought i should start cross training with the mma gym close by.

NOTE: I am not like half the retards you see on youtube... the wing chun i do is rough sparring (we substitute fists with palms when we attack someones face and so on...)

good idea or not?

As a former student of Wing Chun, I can honestly say the sooner you move to a real stand up art, the better. I still use my muk yan jong for hand conditioning; and cause it impresses the hell out of people when they come over, but that's about it. Go for some muay thai, you will thank me later.

To me, wing chun leaves you open for hooks and headkicks due to that center line stance. but to each their own.

I just don't like being in sanchin stance. I'm not hating on wing chun (there's enough people on here that will hate on it, or TKD of course) but I'd add an art like muay thai.
