starting training tomorrow and i don't have a clue..
 
i'm starting my mma training tomorrow. mostly conditioning. i was weight training before i decided to start mma.

i'm set on learning bjj for my ground fighting and i'm starting my training at a boxing gym. i would rather not use traditional american boxing at my stand up technique though.

i'm not exactly sure what i want to do. kickboxing, karate, muay thai, jujitsu, the endless list. i mean i'd like to learn krav maga but the closet school is an hour away and i don't drive yet.

i'm 16 years old, 5'9, 162.5lbs at 13% body fat(on my booty)

suggestions or any questions that you have that would help with your answering would be apreciated

krav maga ....loooks like we got us another Jew face! No, you learn Krav Maga and make the Israeli army proud. But seriously, the best combination I have seen with MMA fighters is Muay Thai/Kickboxing and BJJ/wrestling. Do something along those lines

a good solid practice for MMA would be "Muay Thai" and "BJJ"

MT and BJJ will f*ck people up just as badly as Krav Maga, if not more so. For some reason there is a fair amount of condescension toward Krav Maga on the forum.

I think a lot of the techniques in Krav Maga (Jew slapping) would not be allowed in MMA. You can't punch somebody in the throat or kick them in the nuts...for whatever reason that may be.

Dude we are the same size. I have 3 pounds and change on you and 5 years older :P

Dude if you have a choice take kickboxing and bjj. Im kinda biased because I do those two xD. I only do jitz on Wednesdays and sometimes on open mat saturdays and dude trust me it makes a huge difference. I've always thought mine was good enough but its ridiculous how much better ive gotten at a lot of things in maybe a 6ish weeks.

But back to original topic: dude no one told me this but bring water/gatorade, stretch even before class starts (trust me it really helps) and don't be afraid to take a break when you need it. When I started jitz we did a lot of lunges, frog jumps etc and I went with it because im an ego driven dumbass and I was sore for 4 days after wards. If any of the wiser members read this I'll probably be bitched upon but the only workout I give my legs is running and kicking xD absolutely no lifting etc.

Try everything and do what gives you the most fun and success. You will suck in the beginning, but thats ok :D
