I'd like to know some drills and exercises that you can perform to get better and more explosive when shooting in for the double leg takedown. I know that ideally the best way to getter better is to pratice with a partner, but that's the problem: I don't have one. Me and my brother practice takedowns but only probably once every 3 weeks because he has exams.
Also note that technique is not the problem: I just want general exercises and drills you guys do to become better at the double leg takedown.
Lunges, squats, penetration steps with resistance and double leg takedowns over and over and over til you puke then do it some more.
Someone asked Bruce Lee how learn how to punch fast and he said "punch fast". That means repetition buddy.
excersizes like squats and power cleans and stuff like that helps with explosion but if u do a double leg correctly u dont really need to be that strong, i just got off of wrestling season and idk how ur doing it but my coaches taught to go to the side wiht the take down and not through them like a football tackle
The best way to get better at double leg's is not to do a million exercises but to keep doing performing it over and over.It's all about the muscle memory. Also watch wrestlers who are really good at the movie and take tips from them. Such as Brandon Slay who was a olympic gold medalist and famous for his double leg takedown. do it over and over. if you do it right you dont need to be all that strong. when you shoot, shoot nose up( head looking forward, not down) keep you back straight, then block one leg and lift the other.
