well its sort of a rule that if soemone throws soemthing at you too hard you throw back soemthing harder.

against a tall lanky guy rush him, get inside. dont box with him because if you try to trade long punches he is better off.

dont let him get any distance so he can use his reach, get inside and work body shots, hooks, and uppercuts, keep the pressure on.

if your stronger than him then clinch, and work uppercuts, hooks. control him in the clinch.

but dont go 100%, go about 70-80%. normal sparring is about 70%.

while your working short strikes and clinch strikes get his number standing youll see his weaknesses in a short striking battle that you can use in a long range striking battle.

heres a good move i like to use. it works at long or meduim distance. but not in really short or clinch striking.

go for fake jabs to the body, dont even look at his face just look at his body and fake jab his body but when he puts his mits or mit down to block it throw that big overhand right to the face. Use your jab effective against a lanky guy to set up other strikes if you wanna box with him.

and lastly keep your chin down and lead with your hands because theres nothing that gives a guy with allot of reach a betetr chance at tagging you then when your chin is sticking out right where he can slip in those long arms and hit it.

sometimes the best defence is a good offence

take a tire and put it on the ground, both of you guys place one foot in the tire and then you guys spar. this will teach you guys how to fight inside, force you guys to slip punches, and work inside angles.

you guys need more drills to help you so you don't take so much abuse. power hand up by your face to flick the jab away. you guys play with the jab only and focus on angles and foot work, double and triple up on your jabs.

Create angles get on the inside and look for the jabs and hooks. The straight won't be too effective because you need some distance to set that up and his reach comes into play. You should try KOing him once though. Let him know whats up.

you are making no sense at all, your first comment is he keeps hitting you hard, then you rocked him, and your last comment says you are sparring soft......

you start a thread asking a question and all the advice anyone gives to you, you shoot them down, like they are the ones asking questions... from the sound of your first comment it sounds like you want to know how to box against a bigger opponent...
