well its sort of a rule that if soemone throws soemthing at you too hard you throw back soemthing harder.
against a tall lanky guy rush him, get inside. dont box with him because if you try to trade long punches he is better off.
dont let him get any distance so he can use his reach, get inside and work body shots, hooks, and uppercuts, keep the pressure on.
if your stronger than him then clinch, and work uppercuts, hooks. control him in the clinch.
but dont go 100%, go about 70-80%. normal sparring is about 70%.
while your working short strikes and clinch strikes get his number standing youll see his weaknesses in a short striking battle that you can use in a long range striking battle.
heres a good move i like to use. it works at long or meduim distance. but not in really short or clinch striking.
go for fake jabs to the body, dont even look at his face just look at his body and fake jab his body but when he puts his mits or mit down to block it throw that big overhand right to the face. Use your jab effective against a lanky guy to set up other strikes if you wanna box with him.
and lastly keep your chin down and lead with your hands because theres nothing that gives a guy with allot of reach a betetr chance at tagging you then when your chin is sticking out right where he can slip in those long arms and hit it.
sometimes the best defence is a good offence
