Let me see you can punched with it the way Hughes got wacked from GSP, that is definitley one of the most ignorant statements I've ever heard. Any technique that is thrown correctly regardless if "you" approve of the technique or not is going to hurt or do damage. GSP caught Hughes square in the face, are you going to sit there and say that Hughes isn't experienced??? Please kid, think before you right...

You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

I know it's your opinion and you're entitled to it but your statement was that it is "USELESS", at that point it's not opinion, you are trying to state fact and then you went on to say that it would'nt hurt anyone with experience, again that's not an opinion, you're trying to state fact, I can even begin to understand what experience would have to do with feeling the pain of a punch.

The superman punch has it's applications, it's just not the most effecient strike out there. You may be able to catch someone sleeping, or if you've set them up to expect something else (as mrmyz accounts his use of it).

On that end, I would like to ask mrmyz if he's referring to the "skip punch" being thrown with the lead or rear hand. When I see most "superman punches" thrown in MMA, it's usually a lunging cross with the rear hand. When I read "skip punch" I envision what Bruce Lee called his "straight blast," the JKD Lead Straight.

Myself, I'm more of a fan of the Straight Blast.

It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree... As long as I don't bore you and I spark a moment of thought, my goal is achieved.

how I do it is I fake a kick or knee shoot it back and come out with a right. Ive done it the other way as well really it depends where I see an opening either way is effective for me because I primarily use it as a way to close distance and get a stun in so I can swarm him with punches or even use it to set up a take down when he weaves back and exposes the legs. Alot of people dont do that and its extremely effective.

Ive seen people knocked out by a skip punch as well but its hard because you lose alot of power when you skip but if you hit some one in a sweet spot it can happen.

yea I seen this one before myself used it once not very effective at the time cause it is not what I had planed I was planning on a jumping kick but that was telegraphed and he went to block so I just threw a punch it did stun the guy a moment though that might have been in part to my body crashing into him and taking us to the ground.. But yea if landed it can be effective but it can also make you very sloppy when not done correctly. it has its place just don't rely on it all the time..

yeah its not a move thats supposed to be abused. Like the spinning back fist theres an occasion in which you can use it but you can throw it out left and right when the situation warrants it you use it.

Its more of a move to throw some one off so you can set up your own rhythm and open him up for other shots. When I have used it I have used it I have done it diffent.

Say im working some one over by out fighting him because I have a good reach advantage. Im using alot of jabs and long range kicks to wear him down. Now the guys pretty gassed and I want to switch it up to an infight and finish him off. I could just rush in and then beat the crap out of him but then he could just clinch me and pull some shit.

If I utilize my skip punch though I can use that to close the distance and then at the same time stun him and suprise him and go off with a melee of punches and fluries.
i use a shuffling jab to close the distance form 4 foot away

The superman punch is, essentially, the flying knee for the hands. Closes distance very well and has a great deal of power if you do it right. I've never used it in a street fight and I've never been hit with it, but if you watch guys who know what they're doing, damn!
