First Day of MMA ever..next week...advice
I am meeting with my Instructor next week for the first time in my life. I have ZERO martial arts experience with the exception of internal martial arts, which is basically meditation and maintaining focus, etc.
Anyway, I am looking to fight in MMA and realize that I need at least 1 form of standup and 1 form of ground game. My initial decision has brought me to a combo of Muay Thai and Gracie Jiu Jitsu.
I just wanted to hear the various opinions of my choices and what others feel may be better choices and why.
A little background....I am 6'1" 255lbs (muscular build but need to lose about 30 lbs), former competitive bodybuilder, high school athlete in three sports, very strong, EXTREMELY FLEXIBLE (yoga 3x a week), and willing to listen, learn, and practice. I am also 28 years old (29 in March).
