Newbie

Hey again everyone as you know im a wrestler and bjj guy.
I boxed a little ages ago but now im working on my stand up but im finding a few problems.

Im taking hits a lot. The are only on the forehead as my chin is always down.

My distancing is rubbish and i feel open when going in for the attack even with a jab sometimes.

And where is the best place to look, eyes or chest?

i know these are noob questions but help would be much appreciated.

Its almost as if I like to be tapped out! lol

i'd take a car to knock me out hitting me on the forehead.

jab and move, when he attacks counter.

mid imo, between the eyes and chest so you can see kicks to.

yeah i dont mind it on the forehead bruises a little but does no damage other than that.

I dont mind getting hit but i see some fighters that manage to completely avoid getting hit whilst managing to ko their opponent.

Its almost as if I like to be tapped out! lol

I take a few forehead hits too. Only thing I can think of is to work on coming in faster and sharper with your jab. Come flying in so fast that they resort to retreating or throwing crazy punches w/o technique (easier to avoid). Seems as if I've limited getting hit.

and they are gods.

its a sad truth, but you are going to get hit at some point in a fight. footwork, head movement etc is your key to avoiding that as much as possible. which to a certain extent should allow you to be hit less, especially in a fight with joe blow who has no formal training. guys with formal training are going to know how you're going to avoid their strikes, and no one is perfect, you're going to get hit.

Hold your hands up higher, if your standing in a traditional boxing stance with your shoulders and hands covering your chin area and your chin tucked, just raise your hands higher, like a typical Thai stance. It's also safe to say that you can take a billion punches to the forehead but how many sharp elbows can you take before you're gushing. Not good if your fight gets stopped because of a cut.

Yea defiantly work your distance, keep the hands up, make the other person guess whats coming. Never look into the eyes they are very deceitful. Something would be to work on some kicks that will give you the distance so they know your not just going to punch.
