So we all love to share our techniques, ideas, and philosophies about striking with one another... Well, let's up the ante and share vids of ourselves in action -- (hopefully) practicing what we preach.
Fight vids are welcome! That's the acid test for your technique. You can look good on the pads or even in sparring, but still fall apart during a match.
Sparring vids are what this thread is really about! While most don't look as good in sparring as they do on the pads, technique still tends to be cleaner here than in a fight since there's less pressure. Conversely, it's real enough that it keeps you honest about what's truly ingrained as opposed to what you can only do when someone's not really trying to clock you.
Padwork/bagwork is alright, but not nearly as telling or impressive. I know quite a few people who looked like Ernesto Hoost on the pads but bear a closer resemblance to Bob Sapp when they're going live.
So yeah, post vids and tell us about them. What were you proud of, what were you unhappy with? For kicks and giggles, don't be afraid to post your blunders too.
On that note, I'll start off with a vid where I'm doing a lot of things WRONG. This was the third round of my first-ever fight, which was under Sanda rules (punch, kick, knee, takedown).
My hands were down, my footwork was horrible, my kicks were telegraphed, and a lot of my punches were looping haymakers and overhands. I also didn't really know how to shoot for a takedown back then; I just ran forward with my head down and hoped for the best. Thank god there were no knees to the face.
On the other hand, here are some boxing sparring videos that i'm pretty proud of. In these first two, I'm going against someone who outweighs me by 50 pounds. He's way less experienced than me (obviously, or I'd have no business being in there with him), but he's very athletic and strong, so he's still a legitimate threat. Working with him was a true test for my head movement and technique, because without those things I'd get clobbered.
And finally a vid where I'm going against this guy who usually puts a beating one me. This is one of the few times where I was able to shut him down. I usually struggle to find my range on him, but I threw a lot of combos and put good pressure which helped me come out on top.
Now your turn!

Hmm maybe I'm just a weirdo then. Or rather, I come from a gym full of weirdos. A lot of us tape sparring sessions as a training aid. I've found it to be SO useful because it really shows me exactly what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong. A lot of times you catch mistakes that you wouldn't have even guessed you were making.
And conversely, sometimes you get sick footage of you kicking ass, which appeals to the narcissistic (like myself). It's a win-win-win, so long as you don't tag yourself when you put it on youtube, else opponents could scout you or something.

It has nothing to do with being weirdos. Taping is definitely helping for your training and it's definitely something you should do if you are serious about you fighting career.
But there are some people who just don't want to have their personal material in the uncontrollable internetz
