Nothing wrong with not using hand wraps its very good knuckle conditioning but i dont do it for very long and i use boxing gloves for a fair bit of time before i take them off.
i busted my hand up not using wraps, i did it with one punch on one of them super big fairtex bags, then had to sit out for 2 months..
i was walking out the gym and had the suudden urge to hit with out my wraps, and gloves. fired a straight right.. picked up my bag like nothing happened and went straight home to put some ice on it. i thought i broke it at first.
i guess you can build your knuckles by banging with no wraps, but i don't think you should lay into it. i belive knuckle conditioning should be done slow.
