Solar Plex Punches Useful in MMA?

Is the solar plex punch useful in MMA? How come MMA fighters don't use it often, at least MMA fighters from major organization.

It's really really hard to hit the right spot on a moving target. In all my martial arts time I can only recall on witnessing less than a hand full of successful solar plexus shots, delivering one myself. Livershots were way more often and successful, but somehow they are also rarely used by UFC fighters. They tend to get tunnel vision and start to head hunt only. Maybe that will change after the spectacular liver kick finish in the Lesnar vs Overeem fight.

As a recipient of both liver shots and solar plex shots as well. They suck...badly! It stuns you and you can't breathe...time out. I'm just waiting to see the Dim Mak.

i've always wondered that myself. karate guys should be able to land those more often than thai boxers

i think i can remember Melvin Guillard finishing Gabe Ruediger with a punch to the solar plexes, and didnt Chuck land some nice ones on Tito in the 2nd fight i think?

I use a left jab to the plexes followed by an overhand right while stepping forward to get inside an opponents reach then work inside with short hook and uppercuts.
