I havent MAXED my bench in forever...found out it served no purpose =O
but im 5`8, 165 and the highest ive seen my max was 265
You are totally correct max bench serves no purpose except powerlifting. I am 5'10 and 190ish and bench 225 for sets of 12 to 15 reps with good form. The funny thing is if I throw on 2 quarter plates to make it 275, I can only do it 2-3 times. I dont care to be the strongest, I dont rest for 5 minutes between sets maybe 1 minute, after bench I usually do incline for high reps then go do pushups. I would say I do three sets to most peoples 1 set cause they rest too long. They are not in good physical shape they just can push a stack of weights a couple of times and think they can kick somebodys ass. Most those guys in my gym do no cardio and dont break a sweat.
