I would say it would be the swimming since the steam room doesn't get rid of fat, it only gets rid of water weight. Basically, if you go to the steam room for a certain amount of time and then drink a lot of water with your next meal (or in between meals) you'll gain most of the water weight back. The steam room doesn't do long term weight loss.

I train cardio on a recumbent cycle, a stairmaster, and a treadmill. I used to run a lot but don't anymore because my knees don't like it so I always try to stay with low impact routines. I also always monitor my heartrate to make sure that I am getting exactly what I want out of my workout.

Which brings me up to my question. I'd like to see your heart rate calculating file. Can you post a link or the file itself.? Thanks.

I hate running as well and the best substitutes that I have found are swimming, biking, and jump rope. jump rope wont help your sprint time at all but in terms of cardio there is some stat that 100 jumps is equal to a mile of running. I used do a lot of cardio when i was on my schools dive team and we did a lot of bikes and rope and it helped a lot

i know running sucks but its an awesome workout. i joined track and in like 2 months i lost 10 pounds. i wasn't trying to either since i thought i was in pretty good shape. actually i think i ate more when i was on track. only thing is running gets old fast. if you don't bring an ipod or something to motivate yourself you'll get bored with it fast.

For cardio, try to mix it up a little bit. I think running on a treadmill, sprints, running long-distance(outside), swimming, jump roping, and some biking are all GOOD ways to improve your cardio. There's a lot of good tips and ways to improve cardio in any 'Muscle and Fitness' magazine also, you could pick one of those up.
