It's not racist at all, him having more fast-twitch fibers and him being black aren't related, as far as I know. I don't think race is a factor at all.
If you think that people can be as good as they will themselves to be, will yourself to grow a half-foot taller, and see how far it gets you.
That might seem silly, but it's not. Not only have your genes determined how many fast-twitch fibers you have, they have determined just how much you can improve them with exercise. In other words, some folks have lots, some don't. For some, targetted exercise will help a lot, for others, it won't do nearly as much.
It's somewhat similar to how "muscly" you can get without resorting to chemical means: You already have as many muscle cells as you're going to have. When you get bigger, you don't grow more cells, the cells just get bigger - and there is a limit to how large they can get. Folks who are born with more muscle cells to begin with can grow larger - and have an easier time doing it.
Genetics doesn't say "You were born with these genes, so you will be exactly this." Rather, they say "These genes mean that you are pointed in this direction, and have this much latitude to change it." Both the direction and the latitude to change vary from person to person.
When I was younger, I put on about 30 pounds of muscle over a couple of years, and I worked my freaking BUTT off to do it. One of my friends (who wasn't on the juice) did the same thing in a year, not working half as hard as me. My easiest muscles to grow were in my back, those were his hardest. I can't grow my calves for squat, his got bigger if he walked up stairs. He was one fast dude... but not a lot of muscular endurance. I can do very heavy things for long periods of time, but I'm not fast at all. Everyone is different.

I posted the fast twitch muscle fiber thing and in no way did I intend race to even be raised...as far as I know fast twitch muscle fibers can be increased through proper workouts.....race is irelevant......

GROWL!
I feel the monkey on my back now :P , didn't mean to say any of you guys were racist. But the only times ive heard about "fast twist fibre" is when some white dude is trying to make an excuse why african americans are stronger/better/faster etc.
@ GC: didn't mean you could do miracles or walk on water, but my dad is a big guy, my mom is average/small biggish and im 5'9 165lbs (on a good day) with a fast as **** metabolism. My genes say I should be 6ft+ and huge, but ask any girl who seen me w/o a shirt about my abs ^_- its an orgasmic experience. If I wanted to I could gain 30lbs in 6 months and look totally different, I know what you mean by genetically inclined but I feel a person can completely change their bodies.
@ColdCall you sexy mother****er, im pretty drunk atm but I didn't mean to insult anyone, im just ignorant on the subject of fast twitch muscle fibre.
As to everyone that posted. thanks for your impute
I'm trying to double my speed bag work, working solely on speed, not power, which is a first in months. Problem with muscle memory for me is my fear that someone will figure me out and beat the shit out of me due to their timing matching my combos. :P

The speed bag is the only thing I miss about the Y. I only saw improvement through continual practice and lifting. And jumping rope, b/c that strengthened my wrists a little, along with the wrist curls I still do from time to time.

So **** me because I post elsewhere? lol
Not everyone left for the same reason, some of us left to be writers over at the new place. I have no ill-will towards MMAForum, but you need to relax man, it's the internet.
Anyway, as everyone else already mentioned xeberus, work on your reflexes. A cool trick that me and my friends use to increase hand-speed and reaction time is to do tennis ball exercises. For instance, hold a tennis ball out at arms length, drop it and grab it in mid air with your opposite hand, keep rotating hands. The motion you make with your hands (grabbing the ball) should mimic the closing of your fist as you throw a punch.
That's just a basic exercise that can make a slight difference with your muscle twitch fibres.

That's directed at anyone who made the move, so in a way you are addressing me. Re-read what you've typed before making a response.

This childish rebuttal just further proves my point that you're being oversensitive about the forum changes. Go change your tampon, and stop acting like such a little bitch.

And "everyone else who went over there", you moron. I just find it funny that even you don't think your posts are worth reading.

And I couldn't care less about you as well, which is exactly why I made the move to a forum with a community that isn't composed of retards like you. This place still has a lot of great users that I respect and enjoy discussing things with, you're just not one of them, and your reactions in this thread have proven that.
And Who cares? It's not your business. What you are saying just keeps proving my point that you're taking this all too seriously. IT'S THE INTERNET, STOP CRYING!
