the most ive lost in the shortest time was 12.8 lbs in around 55 hours. Im a high school wrestler, so I really have to watch my wieght. I do very unhealthy stuff although.I barely eat anything and drink anything, make weight, and then go pig out, and continue that cycle for around 4.5 months. It sucks and I know I shouldnt be doing it this way. I say it is possible for you. But if you do it how id do, once you put some food back in your body, your weight goes up like crazy. Good luck with your weight loss if you decide to do it.

When the pro fighters cut weight they aren't cutting fat at all, they are just reducing the amount of water in their body which will make them weigh less. You don't lose muscle or fat. To my knowledge cutting weight isn't a long process, all the articles I've seen on it talk about doing it 2 to 3 days before weigh in, so basically, up until those 2 to 3 days before weigh in, you need to cut calories and increase cardio if you want to lose weight. But always be careful while cutting weight since it is incredibly hard on your body. I don't remember exactly what to do the few days before weigh in (I know you drink tons of water on day 1, then cut it to half on day 2 and none on day 3 and you also cut your sodium intake to none but I don't know all the details), so you can find articles by using google.

When fighters cut weight before a fight they are in essence dehydrating thier bodies... that is why most weigh in for pro fights are the day before a fight so the fighter can put the water back into thier system before the actual fight if not both fighters would pass out before the first round. As for trying to drop weight classes.. Here is my thoughts on that..

A kid I was working with.. senior in high school.. Doing all he could to drop weight to get the the weight class he wrestled at the year before.. Got to the weight... I told him he was not going to win the tournament he was in for his first set of matches.. WEll tournament day came.. he won his first match and completely gassed out and lost his 2nd.. hence he did not win his weight class as he had done previously... he had 3 weeks before the regular season started.. Since i predecited exactly what was going to happen to him ahead of time this time he took my advice.. he started.. *GASP* eating (healthy of course).. regardless of what his coach told him... He was lifitng weights and he ended up moving up not one but two weight classesbut he went up by adding muscle. Last I talked to him he has not lost a match at his new weight and he told me he does not even feel tired at all even after long matches or tournaments..

Tip to all fighters don't kill yourself to get down to some weight class that is well below your bodies natural weight just cause it was where you were the year before.. eat right add muscle and do hard cardio. compete where your body, not your coach thinks you should be or you were.. you'll do better and feel better.

Though as for cutting weight before a fight... if the weigh in is the day before the match just cut the water weight soon as weigh in is over drink water.. I mean lots of water the rest of the night until your urine stream is clear ... this means your rehydrated properly.. if the weigh in is the same day as the match I advise against this or you'll be exhausted for the match,,, unless you got like real early weigh in and late day matches.. even then your risking perfomance.

well my main concern is this, read it and you guys tell me what would be the best decision for me. Here goes nothing -

I want to join the police academy. Thats my biggest goal in life. Right now im 6'2 215. I lift weights 2 days rest 1 and train 2 days again. I do cardio everyday. Since i get really sick when im doing outside running in the winter (trust me, i tried everything), i run like a mile in like 9:30 on 2 incline and i walk 2 minutes on high inclines and then run 2/3 mintes again. My usual is 1-3/4 in like 20 minute son the tredmill. Afterwards in the gym i do

1st day - Cardio 1-3/4 miles tredmill, Legs, shoulders, triceps, biceps & basic arm exercies.

2nd day - Cardio 1-3/4 miles on tredmill, chest, back and abs.

3rd day - No weights, some cardio boxing and/or sprints outside in the field.

MY GOAL:
-100 meter sprint as fast as possible
-Beep Test or Shuttle run, basically u run back and forth of 20m court before the beep goes off... it gets faster and faster. I need to get level 6.5.
-Dummy drag (150 lbs) to 25 ft.

What should I do? any cops out there? maybe someone can help me out. Being a cop is my life dream and im willing to do anything to achieve it.

Am I missing something (or are you leaving out a crucial fact) because to my knowledge there are no weight limits (at least not at the weight you are) to getting into police academy and as for the other stuff, that is not on topic. However I'll answer it: The key to fast Beep Tests/Shuttle Runs is just pushing yourself when you do them and keep on doing them. For cardio don't just run on the treadmill since you aren't looking for a constant run (the way that you mention it), go into the basketball court (or wherever the Beep Test/Shuttle Run is held) and do the actual thing. Now don't stop doing the treadmill, but alternate between the two.

I'm not sure how to help with the 100 m sprints. The only thing I can think of is explosive sets of squats and plyometrics. Finally, the dummy drag, try to simulate something similar to that (even if it isn't that much weight) because it will use more than isolated muscles that are worked on while in the gym so it may not be easy.

Yes, you are right, there are no weight limits as far as im concerned. But i think losing a little weight might help me with the sprint.
