Stretching before a fight is very important because it helpo to relax you muscles from the strain. This would help in the free movement of the body and ensure that you don't have any stiff muscles.

Absolutely, that's the most important thing to be included in your preparation before a fight. The reason is just that it relieves you from any ligament tear or muscle pull during the fight. During the fight your muscles are under the immense pressure as you are draining the energy, at this time a sudden movement of the muscle that wasn't in action until now will lead to pulling of a muscle or in worst case results into a ligament tear.
