I'm trying to get an HDTV but I need suggestions on what to go with

I have both PS3 and XBOX360 and unfourtunately, I'm still playing on a frikin box TV.

I'm planning on getting an HDTV soon but I'm kind of a retard when it comes to home entertainment systems. Does anybody have any suggestions on what to get?

My limits are 50inches or under and no more than $1,800

Please help me

***Also is anyone knows any good deals or good websites online and wouldn't mind pointing them out; i'd truly appreciate it

You can get a 42" LCD or 50" DLP.
Both are around that price.

FYI you should buy something like an HDTV in the spring.
That's the time they clear out last year's models and introduce ones with newer technology.

If your looking to buy soon I'd go with LCD. I'm holding out for SED which are cheaper to build yet can put out contrast ratios of 100,000:1 (compared to about 10,000:1 today)

The max size of your new TV should be determined by the viewing distance...
Thats a big mistake made by alot of people...
They buy a 50" Plasma and sit 8 feet from it... then complain that it looks like crap...

I have a 40" 1080p samsung in my bedroom, but I view 10 feet away from it... this is pretty much the minimum distance before SD channels start to look like crap

With your xbox360 or ps3, I would definitely get a LCD with 1080p... the sony xbr2 & xbr3 has dropped in price because they released the xbr4... prolly a good time to pick one of those up if you got the dough...

I wouldnt recommend the samsung because there some HDMI drop out issues with ps3 depending on the firmware... and when was the last time you asked about the firmware of a TV before buying

rear projection 48" LCD has worked well for us. we are kind of too close (5 ft or so) but that's only cause we're waiting for the corner unit entertainment center we ordered to come in, then we'll be more like 10 ft.

we love it. action films, sci-fi etc look incredible on it.

it is a sony wega

I would say go to the store and look at 42" TV each with LCD and DLP then choose, there is a huge debate about which looks clearer, more crisp. Attention is also right about the distance thing at my hotel we have 32" HD's hanging on walls and sometimes freak out looking at non-HD channels up close. Whatever you do stay the ef away from Plasma its shit now. Also make sure it can handle broadcasts in 1080i as thats true HD. That is about all I can say.

I have a 64' High-Definition TV, and it's absolutely amazing, sure, when you first get it you'll think it's way to big, but it's awesome once you get used to it.

I just got a 40" Sony Bravia 1080p a few weeks ago and I love it. It's great with my PS3, the difference between HD and SD with the games is amazing. You gotta see it to believe it.
