I think a virus has caused this. Explorer.exe is corrupted and I have no way of using my laptop (acer), all I get is my background image.

Once before it got so messed I just did a simple factory default, but since I can't do anything I'm really in a mess. If anybody knows how to do a system reboot or reset please tell me. I'm using my friends desktop at the moment. Any help greatly appreciated.

File-new task-explorer.exe

Thanks for posting Cabby. Right now I've managed to get it working in safe and debug modes but its still messed. And I'm trying to restore it to factory defaults. If anybody has an acer laptop and knows how to do this please post.

I suggest downloading hijackthis from download.com and running the program. then you can go to hijackthis.de and post your logfile online and if theres any bs on the computer it will find it and you can delete manually.

If you want post the logfile in this thread and I can help you delete what needs to be. Because from what you say there is probably something fishy on there.

Awesome program. The log showed a lot of the trojan viruses and such I thought I had deleted. dday.exe and bullshit like that. Sadly this all happened accessing my university's website.

Good fuckin look on that hijackthis Cabby. Thanks a lot.

If you you know exactly when the problem arose, or if you DL anything recently. I'd suggest that you find System Restore and go back a couple of days, then run a system-scan to see whats up.

Yes I've been using that program forever now. It finds stuff that normally anti-virus programs won't find. CCleaner is also another good program to keep the computer registry clean. Once installed you can right click the recycle bin and Run CCleaner, it takes seconds to clean the registry and clears your browser history, recently viewed files and such. Glad to help out....
