okay im seriously thinking about buying one....but here is the thing right now i idont have enough money to buy a new one....is it okay or worth my money to buy one refurbished or is that a bad idea? even IF i do buy it refurbished the store will have a service agreement right if anything goes wrong? basically should i wait and save up more for a NEW one or right now save some money and buy a REFURBISHED one

Save up for a new one. Xbox 360 will probably have a price drop and and upgraded hard drive coming soon if the rumors are true.

I would recommend buying an 'inner cooler' when you buy yours because they have a tendency to over-heat and break. I have an inner cooler and never have any of the problems many people seem to report.

If you buy the 360 new there should be a guaranteed warranty from Microsoft (free of charge) so long as you don't modify the console, so don't let the store sucker you into paying for one. But, I would still ask if the console has a Microsoft warranty just to be sure.

Yeah I'm pretty sure if you buy new they have a 5 year warranty.

I bought an Elite, but I would suggest buying a new one and plus if you get the RROD you have a 3 year warranty on it.

Get a new one. The older ones have an average 17% failure rating. The newer ones are much more reliable. Just save up the extra $40 or $50 for a new one.
