Finally installed Win7 a couple hours ago, extremely happy so far

Don't know if it will replace my love for XP though.

i been using it for a couple months now, liking it alot. my only issue has been video card drivers. i run 2 GTX 260 core 216's in SLI and i have freezing issues with video's. and always the dump says video driver stopped responding. Nvidia has had many many updates in the time ive had it, gotten better but still not perfect. ill probably buy it though, im liking it alot.

I'm looking at replacing XP with Windows 7 after this semester of college. I'm getting Windows 7 Professional for about $50 through my school, and Office 2007 for $10 through my employer.

It should be a nice Christmas.

I actually had a meeting with Microsoft SA just the other day where I had to consider my way forward with volume licensing.

During this meeting Microsoft specialists actually acknowledged that Vista was a huge mistake.

Windows 7 was highly recommended. It is according to them a lot less hardware intensive than Vista.

I'm on Windows 7, and have enjoyed it so far. Nothing has really bothered me yet, besides my lack of knowledge on how to work with it. That will come with time however.

I've been using Windows 7 since mid-December, and I have a few problems thus far.

- My harddrive capacity is slowly decreasing. There is a temporary folder somewhere that doesn't ever refresh, and it's simply increasing in size.

- My monitor will "flicker" every once in awhile. It flashes off and right back on, but it's still annoying.

Hmmm, I haven't noticed these problems. Have you read anything online about these being common problems?

YO UB.

1. Do you use opera? Because if so, that maaaaaay be where your space is going. Also, go to start menu and type in %TEMP% and clear that out.

2. Monitor flicker is usually a video driver issue. Try updating if possible.

I switched to Windows 7 64bit last night, happiest I've ever been.

Yes, the HD issue was first noticed in Vista, and apparently not resolved.

No, I use Firefox, and I have CCleaner setup to clear my temporary files on start-up.

My video driver is updated to the most recent Vista driver, 'cause there is no Windows 7 driver available.

Edit: Well, I'm fed up with Windows 7, and went back to XP. I also found out that Microsoft will continue supporting XP until 2014. That's plenty of time to wait on Windows 7 SP1, which is due in November.
