Documenting me getting my a** kicked

I have tried to keep these updated in the past, I figured I would give it one last shot. I am going to really try and keep this up to date.

Yesterday I went to my first BJJ class in quite some time. Man was it fun but it took everything I had to get through the class. We mostly drilled escapes from side control, then did some live grappling at the end of the class.

My buddy that got me back into it has 3 or 4 amateur titles and is going pro after his next fight should it go his way. I ended up grappling with him some and man he just had his way with me. It was a good experience though. Right now I am so out of shape, I am more concerned with losing weight and improving cardio.

Today I rested, kept my diet on track and did my own thing. Tomorrow I will be back at it in the gym.

I didn't know you did BJJ. We really should get a training thread going around here there are enough guys.

How long have you been out? It's rough coming back I just spent the year on the couch so I hope you keep this updated and we can swap tips haha.

I did a little BJJ a couple years back. I only did nogi but it wasn't for long. I did box for about 4 years, never fought though. Seems like every time an amateur tournament was coming around I would get injured.

Looking forward to learning a lot more about grappling though. I haven't really done any working out for a couple years so just grappling for a bit takes a lot out of me.

Free trial at American Top Team is up. Going to have to wait until my next paycheck to go and sign up.

Just keeping the diet clean and doing some cardio in the mean time.

I imagine it would but my year out wasn't by choice. had to have my knee pretty much rebuilt after I tore my acl and meniscus rolling. I was initially told a year before thai boxing and at least a year and a half for bjj. But I pushed myself hard in rehab and got cleared early.

That kind of injury might just finish me off tbh, i can't stand being out.

Just did some running and light weight training yesterday. Will probably do much of the same today. Still just trying to drop some weight while I wait for the ATT to open up.

Diet is going strong and I am already feeling better. Last night for dinner I had cabbage and Salmon. Was really good. Today I had myself a chocolate protein and banana shake with some peanut butter for Breakfast, hummus and turkey wrap for lunch and am having some eggplant and quinoa for dinner.

I am starting to feel better physically but since I used to just stuff myself with the heaviest foods, I am still feeling hungry as the day goes on. Been drinking a lot of water to try and keep it in check.

As for exercise, today I just did some basic things like ab/oblique work and some pushups. Going for a run after dinner tonight.

Yesterday was a huge fail for me. Ate bad food and drank a lot it didn't set me back terribly as I have been eating the cleanest I ever have before yesterday, but I just can't make a habit out of it. Got right back on it today though.

Monday I am heading back to American Top Team as my buddy I go with will be able to train again. Really hoping to keep at it.

My plan is to have an actual fight when all is said and done. I always felt like I put too much work in when I boxed back in the day to never have a fight. (Kept getting injured back then)

Right now, I have an enormous amount of weight to lose in order to even be near my fighting weight. I also have a ton of actual training to do before I am ready but I am confident that I will make it happen if I stay motivated.

My buddy I go with has a few amateur titles in a couple different weight classes and is about to go pro. Paul Rodriguez is the head trainer at the ATT I will be going to and he is awesome. He never treats it like a normal class. He is right in there with you the whole time breaking things down for you. I have the necessary people around me to succeed right now.

Pretty excited to get back in there.
