My diet is, make myself eat disgusting fruit and vegetables and lean protein, and don't get wasted every night, and Nutella is not a food group.

HIIT is great for building both speed and endurance, as I'm sure you know, but I prefer incorporating speed intervals toward the end of a run (typically 3-5 miles, longer if I don't have some sort of class that evening), and then only about .5 more than what I was going at, ie 6.5-7.0 or 7.2. (I am not fast).

Tuesday 2-09: rested
Wed: 3 mile run in early PM, then karate (a ton of moving from stance to stance and striking/blocking very fast). I got yelled at for going to get water in the 15 second break between drills, WTF? I think my sensei's going to crack on me more b/c he knows I want to go up for rank. MMA was pad work and sprints and abs, and then drilling 2 different guard passes.
Thur: horrible shin splints and left achilles pain. Rested and iced.
Fri: 35 min ellipical.
Sat, Sun: rested and iced a lot.

Mon 2-15: Had a tooth pulled and the periodontist said no workout till tomorrow.
Tue: rested
Wed: MMA combination class, partner pad work and floor drills (combinations up and down the floor) then we drilled the dell'Arriva sweep. No, I don't give a f8ck whether or not I spelled it right.
Thur: 4 mile run, judo was just drilling side falls, uchikomi, and then seioi nage the rest of the time.
Fri: 4.5 mile run.
Sat: judo, partner throws but all I was allowed was seioi nage. We always warm up with breakfalls and rolls which is awesome. Karate was kicking drills and self-defense, lame in terms of workout.

Mon 2-22: 3.75 mile run, kickboxing at 6.
Edit: Due to schedule changes I had to take the 5:45 karate class so I got done sooner. It was sprint/army crawl/crab crawl drills, that thing where you jump over and then drag yourself under your partner, and some wall kicks, you know the ones, where you hold the kick in chamber and then kick a bunch of times and then hold it in chamber again, and it sucks, then we finished up with wall sits.
tue: rested. legs and butt hurt a lot from Monday and I was kind of sick.
Wed: 3 mile run in the early PM, then from 5:30-8:30 was karate, then MMA combination (15 min jump rope straight, then various drills setting up and executing sweeps from guard and mount, then about 15 min of pad work). Classes like this are why I don't get discouraged if I have an off night. Tonight was not one of them, but even so.
Thur: 3.5 mile run in early PM, judo at 6. Judo was uchikomi drills for seioi nage and o goshi. I had a tough time with the fit for o goshi but it got better as class went along. then we started laying the foundations for further randori, in my sensei's words.
Fri: Boxing and grappling drills in the cage. Super awesome.
Sat & Sun, rested.

Mon: kickboxing
Tue: 2 mile run, 1st Shotokan class (awesome), kata class.
Wed: bo kata (My bo is heavy so when I do them like I mean them, I sweat), slide kick drills, MMA combination class which was all over the place and very demanding.
Thur: Judo at 6. This week is turning out to be a washout for running. FAIL! Judo was just uchikomi (I'm only allowed just past the fit for seioi nage) and listening to the instructor talk to the new guy a lot......uuuuhhhhhhhhh. I know I'm not supposed to roll my eyes, but I wanted to work more.
Fri: rested, iced painful Achilles a lot.
Sat: Judo (a lot of uchikomi) and some randori. I only have seioi nage, o goshi, and o soto gari atm. Karate was the usual kicking drills, then kata.

Mon: kickboxing. The usual hour or so of pad work, jump rope, pushups, situps etc.
Tue: ran 3 miles, a few hours later Shotokan (just a ton of stances) and goshinjitsu kata. Waiting for Shotokan to pick up. It is a multiage class and some of the people are completely new to any type of martial art, so that slows it down.
Wed: rested
Thur: judo
Fri: 30 min elliptical, 10 min bike
Sat: rested
Sun: rested
This week fails.
