Good job! Nice progress! You ever look into LSD or HIIT type running? You should try something where you run HARD for 1-2 minutes, then walk for 1-2 minutes, then repeat. It's a good ass workout, and really helps. You should also look into bleachers... way good cardio wrokout.

I didn't work out yesterday due to dumb time suck errands and that night I had tkd test review for when I test for purple stripe on Saturday.
Today I had to hurry up so I practiced poomsae and ran 2.5 miles with 9.0 min mile intervals, then did poomsae again for about an hour at tkd. I don't think this was enough cardio but there is definitely continuing progress re: speed and endurance. I'd like to run bleacher steps but there are none near, and they're all high as in if I tried to run them, I'd break something again, God forbid. (this was wednesday)
thur: ran 5 miles, poomsae, boring boring one steps and lightning phases 1 & 2 (fun kicking drill which is also good cardio)
fri: ran 4 miles, 15 min. stairmaster, now i have to study for testing tomorrow, i'm starting to freak out.
today I got purple stripe at my tkd testing session. I didn't do much cardio apart from some point sparring to help the ppl testing for higher ranks satisfy their sparring requirement, and doing poomsae like I meant them. You know, like you should hear the material of yr. gi or dobok or whatever snap. I wanted to test but it's unfortunate that with regard to cardio, unless ur testing for full rank, there's not much happening.
we r going out to mother's day dinner so I can go to the gym tomorrow during the day, I already told my husband I don't give a f&ck about mother's day, my birthday is 2 days later i'd rather get presents and cases of Negra Modelo then.

Monday 5-12-hit the B.O.B. dummy a lot, then ran 5.25 miles, I think I finally ran an entire 9.5 min. mile, which is fast for me. I added some incline intervals again. so as to minimize the caucasian woman's curse of lacking junk in the trunk.
tue: gym blocked by boss! refer to my blog!
wed: hit B.O.B. dummy, ran 5 miles one of which was a 9:20 mile, my other speed intervals were between 9:15 and 8:50. This is the year b*tches. The year that I run another 10K and get in the best shape of my life.
Thur: ran 5 miles at about the same average speed as yesterday, maybe 20 seconds faster overall. some speed bag. Cannot hit heavy bag b.c the chain it's hung from broke and almost smacked the cranium of the dude hitting the bag when the chain fell and it isn't fixed yet.
Fri: lost workout time due to kids' school stuff
sat: rather hung over
sun: hopefully gym when it opens at 12:30 then i have to pick up some negra modelo etc. for the belated bday get-together

Mon 5-19 - ran 5 miles
Tue 5-20 - ran 4.5 miles, all we did in tkd was talk about its history and other arts/disciplines that we incorporate into our school's curriculum
Wed 5-20 - ran 5 miles. watched 10 min of the kids' gojuryu karate class, interesting to see some of their basics and that they stand in a kind of sanchin stance when they're at chunbe
thur I think I got my dates screwed up. ran 5 miles. I have to drop my speed a little if I expect to get up to 6-7 miles regularly. there was no sparring like there usually is thur. nights,I don't know why.
fri: had to take kids to the mall BORING i better be able to get away to the gym tomorrow.

Sat 5-24, squeaked out 4 miles and couldn't even get in my 9:15 min/mile speed intervals. shin splints bad enough to require icing. Also I sweated like a dude, disgusting but probably good for maintaining youthful complexion lmao
5-27-ran 4.5 or so miles, tkd was self-defense getting out of a half or full nelson
5-28- ran 3 miles, tkd drills breaking down taeguek sa-jang form kinda cardio but only b/c I made sure the material of my uniform snapped with every move I possibly could get it to.
thur: ran 4 miles. didn't go much under a 10-min mile. breaking in new shoes also, soles of feet hurt. If I don't ice my ankle every other day I pay, have to remember to ice it regularly.
fri: ran 4.5 miles staying under a 10-min mile the whole time, heavy bag and speed bag. Still waiting for wrap gloves to arrive like ralphie waiting for the decoder ring.

Did I forget to post in here for a week? silly me! I've been working out. don't worry
Monday 6-2- dull ass but very strenuous tkd conditioning, mad kicks, squat thrusts, mountain climbers, pushups, situps, all the dull boring f*cking drudgery with only a little awesome fun pad work. For an hour.
Tues - ran 4 miles.
wed - Same as Monday. Drills were slightly less boring but it was still an hour of kind of dull cardio.
Thur 6-5-ran 5 miles at about a 9:40 mile. My average speed is the same but I went a mile further than I usually do.
heavy bag and speed bag with my new grappling gloves LOVE THEM
friday: could only run about 2 miles, 20 min stairmaster. heatwavestarted and i was melting
mon: ran 4 miles. then i was spent and bitched out and didn't go to tkd. my teacher has no concept of not making ppl puke with workouts like the above mon. and wed.ones. when it's 90 and humid. we in upstate western NY do not do well in this type of weather we get cranky and nauseated.
tue: ran 4.5 miles, speed bag, heavy bag
wed: heavy bob (mannequin) work, ran 3 miles, then tkd was many many dynamic drills that made u sweat it was fun as hell
thur: soccer practices back to back and husband golfing. I hate when this happens. I hate it so very, very much.

fri: ran 4? miles, speed bag heavy bag
sat sun: didn't do sh*t this is terrible i think i need to change to the gym 3 min from my house; however it has no speed bag or heavy bag.
mon: had to go to dinner at husband's work, drank way too much Fedor potato cyborg juice
tue. 4 miles, tkd was just tae sabaki and some throws but not fun awesome full-on throws, plus my fave throwing partner is 4 mos. pregnant and i haven't been able to throw her for some time due to safety issues.
Wed: ran 2 miles, jumped rope, heavy bob kick and punch combo drills, poomsae in tkd and in sticks class after mad drills i have never sweated so much in a weapons class before, it was great.
thur: ran 3 miles, speed bag, heavy bag, jump rope
fri: same
mon: ran 2 miles, rolls, falls on mat, heavy bag, speed bag, jump rope (intervals) tkd conditioning was boring kickboxing format b.c my teacher was sick. His g/f taught class I like her but she's not a good aerobics instructor, she has a knee i njury and can't move us around enough to keep the workout from being boring drudgery, imo.

tue 6-24 ran 4 miles, heavy bag, a little jump rope, tkd was throwing but not cardio b/c we still aren't allowed to really throw why why why????
wed: pushups, situps, mad rolls, mad throws I was throwing ppl bigger than me that was a lot of fun. it was hip throw, reverse hip throw, and inner reap. It worked me pretty intensely i was sweating like a piag again
thur: Every muscle hurt. I didn't work out. I had no idea throwing was working so many muscles so hard.
fri: ran 3 miles, speed bag, heavy bag, 5 min jump rope. Quads still hurt a LOT.

ran 1 mile, went upstairs and did punch/kick combos on the heavy bob, went back downstairs and ran about 2 more miles. no tkd (Heavy Bob has to live in the aerobics room where they teach karate, if he was downstairs he'd get destroyed by all the little punkasses that are at the Y after school and during vacations.
7-1 (tue) ran 4.5 miles, l pulled something in my left foot and have been having to ice it and do workouts other than running, as set forth below.
wed 7-2 stairmaster 35 min, heavy bob combinations, 10 min. jump rope. TKD fun as hell with lots of kicking and blocking drills with a partner, good workout esp. when combined with what I did earlier that day. Then my partner, a fellow soccer mom, goes "i am NINJA" in a goofy voice, and i was laughing like butt-head around my mouth guard. I banged the shit out of the side of my right foot on the makiwara wall kicking pad thing, so now both my feet hurt, I hope I have a lot of frozen vegetables in bags in the freezer.
Thur 7-3 stairmaster 30 min, 10-15 min jump rope altogether, speed bag, heavy bag combinations w/ a lot of legs. rear leg roundhouse/turning roundhouse is good cardio if you do it for long enough and helps a lot with balance and spotting.
fri, sat, sun, didn't work out, super lame.
Mon 7-07 Jump rope/heavy Bob 15 min, ran 4 miles. Whatever I did to my foot last Tuesday healed up enough (with me icing it and generally babying it) along with the painful egg on my right foot from the sharp edge of the wood that the makiwara pad is mounted on, last Wednesday. I wonder if, for purposes of conditioning, I should skip the heavy bob/heavy bag some days and run more? If I hadn't had to be home for a child that was coming home I could def. have run further.

Tue took kids to mall after work I told them never again am I missing a workout for the mall.
Wed ran 4.5 miles, tkd awesome punching drills with a partner, got to work boxing super fun
Thur ran 4.5 miles now I'm queasy
Fri 4.5 miles with more speed trying to make myself drop my speed and go further. i guess it averaged out to about a 9.5 minute mile. I never said I was fast overall, just fast for me.
mon 7-14 could barely crank out 2 miles. jumped rope maybe 5 min. altogether, was lame on the heavy bag also. very iron depleted and tired for reasons I don't want to get into, did not go to tkd we only meet 2x/wk in the summer I am getting so sick of the same old sh*t every time we have conditioning class but i'd never have gotten through it today.
tue 7-15 ran 1.5 miles, 35 min stairmaster, some speed bag and heavy bag really really drained it's hard to work out in humidity like we're having right now.
wed, thur, fri 7-16-7-18 -3 miles wed. some heavy bag & speed bag. I think I ran about 1 mile and was on the stairmaster for about 1/2 hour, i felt pukey the whole time. fri. same as y esterday except no stairmaster, I jumped rope in intervals for a total of about 20-25 minutes with heavy bag intervals and then lifted for about 20 mins, chest and back exercises. it has been very hot and humid the past week here and has left me very depleted, I almost didn't go to the gym at all, but I always say to myself, you'll never regret having gone to the gym, you'll only regret not having gone.
