Why do you use one underhand and one overhand grip on the deadlifts?

I just checked out the video from the RAW meet and it was pretty cool. It sucks you're camera died for this one I woulda liked to see the video.
I have a question though, when you were benching it looked like you bench with your back arched. Is there a reason for that?

It helps you handle more weight... much easier on the grip.

ThankZ dood.
And YES...there is reasoning behind that. You see, when you arch your back while benching, it DECREASES your ROM (range of motion), thus making it a bit easy to handle heavier poundages...since you're moving it less. For instance, I had my workout partner Joe measure the length I cut off with my arch mj, and here are the measurements:
With back flat on the bench & grip on the bar: 21 inches
With back arched, up on traps & butt flat: 16 inches
So you see, it drastically cuts down that ROM, so it's not such a long distance to travel, say especially if you're benching 315. There are many others facets to the way I setup on the bench, and if you're really that interested in each element, let me know and I'll elaborate more.
OH yeah, and I worked out today too. HA

Nice lifting. Going light on the squats today? Do you ever do any DE work? Band work? Chains? Box squats?

That's pretty interesting and seems like a great technique to use for competition. Does everyone do that?

Well...it depends. Most of your common, middle of the road power lifters have GARBAGE technique in their lifts, so it's rare to see a nice arch, unless you know...they've put some time in. I think I have one of the better arches I've seen in a long while.
Got a quick W.O. in today, nothing major. I wasn't in the gym for a few days lately, cause I haven't been feeling the greatest, and my father is having some trouble with his diabetes back home in STL, so it's been weighing heavy on my mind. Anyhow, here's what I did:
----------
Tuesday, August 5th, 2008
Bench
10 x 135
5 x 185
5 x 225
3 x 250
2 x 275
1 x 290
1 x 300
1 x 305
Close Grip Bench (Sets of 3's today)
3 x 185
3 x 205
3 x 225
3 x 245
Front Plate Raises
10 reps. w/ 45
""
""
""
Body-Weight: 182.3 - What can I say? I've been kinda down in the dumps lately cause of my family stuff, so I will admit - I haven't been eating as clean as I should be.
----------
And that was about it. Not very motivated today because of everything I'm thinking about, plus I'm kind of trying to save some energy for later this week...since I have a TON of baseball games coming up. Look at this:
Thursday, August 7 = Games @ 6:00 PM, 8:00 PM
Friday, August 8 = Games @ 5:00 PM, 7:00 PM, 9:00 PM
Saturday & Sunday = Tournament...and we're guaranteed to play at LEAST 2, if we win every game, we'll have to play 6 games.
Yeah. At least 7, but we'll win...so we'll probably end up playing 11. Nice.
Hope everyone that takes the time to read this is doing well though!
take care & train hard

Could you lift up bobb sapp?
Do you always have such a wide stance when you squat?
Isnt it hard to do so many sets of squats? I mean Iam doing 2 heavy squats sets and more would be too much for me.
Are you doping?
