I forgot to post late Friday night, but I went to weigh-ins...they made us strip down to straight boxers/briefs - whatever before stepping on the scale. I'm all dried out and starving, step on the scale: 166.5. Ooops. So, I had an hour to lose a pound & 1/2. The place was empty when I went to weigh-in (first one there!), so I ran 4 laps around this track (an even mile) outside with my windbreakers & hoodie on (while it's like 96 outside....dumbass), then went inside and took the Browns to the Super Bowl, and I stepped on the scale again after wiping the sweat off: 164.8! NICE. Instant Fruit Pedialyte down my gullet, then a G2 on the way home. Back to the apartment, where I made up a big bundle of crab legs & spiral Italian salad. Then, couch time.
ALRIGHT...
Here we go with Saturday's results. Lemme give you all the details.
First off, I started off the morning PISSED, because as soon as I arrived at the meet site, we had like 5 minutes before the rules meeting, so I tried turning my digital camera on to get it all setup...what's the first thing I see? Beeps twice @ me, and I get this:
LOW BATTERY. Then, it shuts off. Yeah, I was HOT. Forgot f'n batteries.
Anyway, we have our rules meeting, where the new lifters become familiar with the commands, rules, etc. Also found out our flight assignments as well. Being in 165, I got in Flight III.
So, we're given our times to go warm up and shit....the worst part about this whole setup was 2 things:
1. The f-cking meet directors thought it'd be smart to run 2 rack at a time, to speed things up a bit (90 lifters total), which it did. Here's the kicker though: the lifting order when Flights 1 and 3 first, 2 and 4 second. Why not 1 and 2 first? Shit was just all sporadic.
2. Secondly, the warm up area/weight room where we got loose at, was a completely separate building from the meet site. WITH NO NOTIFICATION of when your flight begins.
So, I'm stretching and getting loose in there, doing my warm up squats and shit. Ok, cool. Get those out of the way. Walk back into the building....get prepped up to do my squat opener, I get my singlet straps up, my belt on, get close to the bar, and I'm told MY OPENING SQUAT ATTEMPT WAS SKIPPED! WHAT IN THE F-CK?! They told me: when your name is called, you have precisely ONE MINUTE to get geared up, get chalk, get to the bar, position yourself, and do you attempt - all withing that minute. First time I'd ever heard of that bullshit. So, I missed my f-cking opener. Didn't even get to do it. Anyway...turns out, I was still warming up in this separate P.O.S. weight room, and it was my opener. Glad a meet official could come in and notify us! Turns out, 2 others dudes before me got skipped too, cause we were all still warming up. This meet was run so amateur-ish, it made me sick.
But yeah, missing my squat opener f-cked my whole progression up. So, I went over to the judge's table to give them my 2nd attempt, which I moved up to 435.2 (I was going to open at 430, but I didn't want that to be my 2nd attempt, you know?).
From that point on, for the rest of the day....shit ran a little better, not a lot, but at least when we were warming up for our other lifts (bench and DL), at LEAST a meet official would come in and tell us how much time was left before our flights began.
Anyway, I'll sum this rambling session up, and just give you my weights in kilos (which is how these PL meets are figured), and the pound translation.

Best Bench For The Day:
142.4 kg - 314 lbs.
Then, right here....we had like a f-cking 45 minute break, cause some organization and scoring got all messed up, and to make it worst, it was about 100 degrees and f'n HUMID in this gym, so I went back by the only fan in the whole place, put some towels over my bag, lied down, and passed out. Yeah, bad idea. I was kinda shot then, and just a bit out of it for a while (during DL warm-ups & my 1st meet pull). Sucked. But, I couldn't really help it you know? I'm a laid back dude, so I was chillin', laid down, and it's hot to boot, so it just makes people want to sleep. What can I say!?!?

-----
Anyway, walked away with first place, by a 130 lb. gap...was pretty amped about that. Once again, sorry I couldn't get vids or even photos - that was my fault. But yeah, I got like 5 PM's wanting to know how my 165 lb. debut went, so there it is.
Then, once we left, me and a couple buddies hit up about 7 Lincoln bars. NAICE.
hope everyone's having a splendid weekend!
