Skipping, shadowboxing with sprawls on command. Techniques were things to do from a stand against a grounded opponent. Pass and pound, kicking the leg, etc. Also practiced kicking the legs from the bottom, standing up, and upkicks. I think I might legitimately land a swift upkick in a fight one day, good ol' long legs. For rolling Kajan basically tailored the class to everything I needed to work on. Did rolling with striking starting from a stand. I was in the ring and worked on not getting bullied into the ropes and believing in landing a takedown. Once on the ground I was dominant. The thing is the caliber of training partners at the local gym is so much softer compared to the pro gym. I'll be back at the pro gym for more beatings next week.

I didn't go to Pele's class yesterday because I couldn't properly move my left leg. Worst dead leg, ever. Right now everything hurts but I won't go into it. I'll call tomorrow's training as I see it, rest might be more valuable.

Burpees (5x3 minute rounds, 1 min rest)
1 - 34
2 - 27
3 - 25
4 - 24
5 - 25
Total - 135

Another two reps over the best. I'm doing shoeless burpees now so I'm technically cheating. Good workout.

I had two days of rest because I was feeling particularly beat up. My right shoulder was really hurting yesterday but feels manageable today, so we'll see how it goes. Tonight me and my friend are going to do some sparring during the first BJJ class, then jump in for the advanced class.

I lost my license yesterday so I'm now vehicle-less. There's lots of walking now to make everything work, hopefully the weather isn't absolute shit these next two months. I should be able to get a ride to the fortress with a guy from out here, or harass my girlfriend to drive me.

Sparring with my friend. We did 3 rounds of 3 minutes regular stand up sparring. Was pretty fun and I'm feeling more relaxed. Might be because I'm not getting slammed or fighting people who mean business. I landed a sick head kick pretty early on that was just flush on his face and the sound echoed through the gym. Woot. Basic things I need to continue to work on are using more combos, particularly when I land a few shots, I need to stay aggressive and stay on him instead of backing off to admire my work.

Then 2 more rounds where he was just pressuring me, throwing punches then clinching and running me into the ropes while I worked movement and defense. Did alright and my friend said I was pretty hard to hit, though if he threw in large combos I could feel things were getting through. Definitely still need a lot of practice, and practice I will get. Did 50 kicks on the shield for the hell of it.

Then did BJJ, or at least tried to, but I was ******* gassed. The advanced was all rolling today in preparation for some tournament (maybe ours? I forgot to ask). I got thrown in with the same guy that beat me twice at my only tournament. I shot for a single leg, then sloppily landed an ankle pick and I believe went into his half guard. Struggled there for awhile and almost mounted, eventually he turtled and I almost took his back but he clamped down on me and turned into my guard. From there I just needed to keep him locked down for 2 minutes to win it but he got his hustle on and broke it open, passed and went into north south. I just exploded out of there in frustration and got to half guard, then guard. The end. I lose. Maybe if I hadn't just sparred 5 rounds, but it was a good challenge.

Then we started lining up to do guard pass drills. I passed one guy and took his spot on the ground, then as the next guy came in I realized that I had drank way too much liquid and his pressure in my stomach had become a borderline button for vomit. I struggled around for awhile and was eventually passed, at which point I went to stretch and call it day.

Body held up seemingly well. For some reason when I got home tonight my right thigh just spazzed the hell out and I could barely walk, but it seems fine now. I got a big bruise under my thumbnail, I guess my thumb was hanging out when I threw a poorly aimed punch and only my thumb hit on his body. Ouch.

MMA

Warm up run and tumbling. Techniques were working against the wall. From the guy pressuring you into the wall/ropes with a double leg, split hips sideways facing towards him. Overhook one side, other arm goes under their neck, forearm tight against their face, pointing away. Take the underhook arm out and clamp your hands together and your forearms tight around his jaw and swing him around. If you can't get under the jaw, get the underhook, lift it while pulling down on the overhook and spin him. Another move was from over/under use your over hand to push out their hand, pull out your underhook and push against their shoulder to free up space, then bring your overhook's elbow out and over their shoulder against the back of their head, then the other hand, into a muay thai clinch. Hard to explain. Kajan said Anderson uses it.

Then we sparred from positions against the ropes and corners. I did alright but also outsized and outexperienced everybody. I also felt real tired today unfortunately. Then we did a few rounds of MMA sparring with a similar outcome.

Good news on the training front, Kajan said that our pro gym is going to start catering to the amateur fighters so that we have something inbetween our public gym (too easy for me) and our professional fighters gym (too hard for me). Should help the transition better when that goes up in a couple months.

Few days of rest.

Went in with partner just hit the pads for 5 rounds, 200 kicks, some knees.

I feel so tired and unmotivated. I don't get it. My striking endurance is CRAP. Not good.

Tried Muay Thai class yesterday and after 15 mins of skipping my ankle was giving out on me. It doesn't seem sprained, it just hurts and my whole leg seizes up randomly. Been icing it alot and I'm going to buy a support tomorrow. The show must go on so I'll be nursing it.

Today was boxing, I hit the bag instead of skipping, then we did mecidine ball throws, then shadowboxed with weights, then we hit pads, sparred a couple rounds, then hit the bag. Good class. Tomorrows challenge is getting through a Pele class without furthering an injury.

Pele's class was a shit show. It was just a giant circuit with a variety of stations. I'm exhausted. Ankle still sucks but is holding up. MMA tomorrow.

Burpees (5x3 minute rounds, 1 min rest)
1 - 36
2 - 30
3 - 26
4 - 25
5 - 24
Total - 142

Smashed current best. Probably last burpees before my fight...maybe second last.

Muay Thai

Hit pads with partner on our own time. 3 rounds each of striking in general, then 3 rounds blocking/parrying/slipping punches and countering. Then a few rounds blocking leg kicks and countering with kicks. Then did 100 kicks on the sheild, and another round with long punching combos on the focus mitts. Good times. My toenail fell off.

Had a shitty time trying to get my medical done. Had to do it at a walk in clinic because I got the paperwork in a rush. Had to go to three different places and paid 120$. Everything checks out, just gotta wait for my blood and urine test to come back and then I send that shit in.

Last week of hard training. Let's do it.

Ab Circuit

Decline Twist Crunch 40,40,40@b/w
Reverse Crunch 15,15,15@25lbs
Cable Crunch 20,20,20@75kgs
Ab Plank 1:30, 1:30, 1:30

Good workout, extra set, another 10 secs to ab plank.

My diet has been way leaned out for the past few weeks, creatine was dropped about a week ago. I've been sitting at 210lbs for the past few days, so that's all set. Now I'll aim to stay around here and then pee out 5lbs the days prior to weigh in. Should be a smooth first weight cut. If I do take creatine mono after the weigh in, I estimate I'll be around 212-215 for the fight.

Right ankle still hurts...it comes and goes. Doesn't help that it's a 45 minute walk each way to the gym. Muay Thai + MMA tonight.

Muay Thai

Didn't want to skip on my ankle. Hit pads 3 rounds instead. Shadowboxing with sprawls for 4 rounds. Then some more rounds with specific combos on the focus mitts. 1, 4 to body, and 2,3,2. Then we sparred boxing for 4 rounds. Did pretty good, could have been better, but I'm satisfied.

MMA

Skipped the warmup since it was right after class, guard pass and pound drills. Technique was pounding from the half guard. First one was get your hip on the side of their hip by the ground, underhook the opposite sides shoulder, keeping head low to trap the arm, then pound. Next was from half guard, shoulder pressuring, push up their arm at the elbow, reach through behind their neck and to the mat or cup their armpit, half nelson I think. Pound from there. Then when they get out of that, bring your knee up, posture, **** choke and pound. Then if they curl in dig forearm into their throat and pound more.

Rolled 4 rounds MMA sparring from a stand. Was dominate in all rounds. Golden.

Off to pro gym tomorrow to get my ass kicked.
