So you have to go get your ear drained regularly? I thought you could get surgery to correct cauliflower ear, or at least alleviate the fluid buildup.

When you say ice bath, do you really fill a tub with ice, or mostly ice and maybe 1/3 cold water, or what? How long do you usually have to stay in it for it to be helpful?

Yeah it fills up pretty fast and it's getting worse and worse. The problem is that I keep training and irritating it. Just something I have to deal with until after my fight and I can give it 2 weeks to heal.

Surgery maybe, but I don't know much about that. Like will it prevent it from happenning again? or just fix it temporarily? It's probably something I'll have to deal with for a long time.

The ice bath is actually just cold water plus all my ice cube trays dumped in. Any amount of time actually feels better but I imagine you should be in there for 10-15 to really reduce inflammation. I haven't managed longer than 3 minutes so far. =)

Probably my last burpee routine before the fight...Much better than last week, could be close to my best. I'll take a look back and post my progress.

BJJ
I felt like ass and we were doing alot of standup king of the mats. I dislike doing a bunch of standup in a gi because I feel like almost none of it transitions to MMA. I'm also awful at it, so that could be why I dislike it too. Rolled with a brown but felt crappy, got mostly dominated and hit with an armbar and a north/south choke.

I got my new gi in and got to put it to use finally. Damn it's sexy and everyone was giving me props =) It's a white Rafael Lovato Jr Lucky Gi.

I've been hit hard with a cold since saturday. I'm downing the cold fx to get this thing cleared out asap for the fight.

Working on getting my Visa for Brazil, turns out it's a pain in the ass and requires alot of documentation. This is a reminder to myself to get a note from my boss, the money order, and the paystub.

Turns out I missed my doctors appointment by a long shot (it was on the 6th) I'm scheduled to get a full physical done on the 26th, hopefully that won't be a huge issue with the athletic commission.

Sparring tomorrow afternoon, then muay thai/mma in the evening. Last week or so of training, 12 days till the fight.

Drove to sparring but the highway was gridlocked and I was half an hour late. They had started an hour early that day so they were just finishing up as I got there.

What's worse is I talked to Bill and my opponent pulled out this morning. He said there's two guys they're looking at as replacements. Just have to stay optimistic and keep training.

Headed home and got there in time to join Kajan's private. He gave me a wicked shirt for my birthday. Warm up run and acrobatics. Technique was takedowns on the ropes, single legs, then double legs that switch to single legs. Feel good about those now. Alternated bag rounds with pad rounds. I felt real tired, the cold maybe? Dunno. Anyways, I got through it and am taking the evening off.

Ladies kickboxing tomorrow, pads before class in the evening, then bjj.

Ladies kickboxing, did a full body circuit with them as well as hit the pads.

Partner didn't show to hit pads, just did bjj.

Warm up drills, a new guard sweep, some half guard passes.

Rolled. Did well in most of them, though some I was on the bottom of some blues for quite awhile, I finished every round mounted. A blue got me with a nice collar choke. Put a submission clinic on a white belt, two armbars from mounted triangle, kimura from reverse mount, americana.

Super tired today, only got 4 hours of sleep last night and was feeling sick. I feel decent though all things considered. Cold is clearing up.

I got an opponent! It's an interesting one. It's his first MMA fight, however he has 17 boxing fights. So he's experienced. I won't get into gameplan here in the unlikely event that it falls on the wrong ears, but we'll take advantage of my well roundedness and try to exploit his weaknesses. He'll be a good test for me though, I'm sure of that.

Tomorrow I up my water intake in anticipiation for the weight cut. 1oz per lb of body weight = about 6.5 litres of water a day, excluding what I drink while exercising. I keep a water bottle handy all day and mark it as I go to keep track. I'm aiming for a slightly larger cut than my first fight, 7-8lbs. Should be able to do it easily without any unhealthy practices.



10 days.
