Last class today

Long ass warm up, guard pass drills, technique was omoplata from half guard. Drilled guard passes, then rolled. I rolled two blue belts, one was back and forth the other I was with a smaller spazzy guy that tapped to weird things like his elbow twisting awkwardly or his neck.

Got to say goodbye to everyone. A little sad. Everyone wants to know when I'll be back, like it's easy to put together another 7 grand and leave my life behind. =) Got a few pictures, though many that I wanted pictures with weren't there.

Furthest left is the little guy that I boxed with often and he always goes all out with haymakers. Nice guy though. Then Raphael, a super talented brown belt and genuinely nice guy, I got alot of rounds with him. Then Gerbil, enough said. Me. The boss man Gordo, and furthest right is Ze, another brown belt and good roll for me.

Igor - STRONG LIKE VRUSSIAN.

Action shots

Flight is tomorrow. I've got one more thing for this blog to conclude this trip, I'll put it up shortly.

Friday

Went in and did a light workout. 2 good rounds of burpees and a few rounds on the bag. Wasn't feeling phenomenal so that was it.

Saturday - BJJ

First class back. It was being led by Bruno Capdeville, a very capable brown belt that I haven't worked with before. Got a very good first impression, his classes were run well, good warmup, an enthusiastic teacher, and excellent techniques that were new to me and easy to pick up. Looking forward to training with him more.

So we did our lengthy warm up, some new varieties of guard pass drills. Then techniques was taking the overhook, threaten a collar choke, then feed their defending arm across and bring up a very high guard. From here there's two armbars or a triangle. Also did doing and defending the double leg underhook pass. The most important part is scooping yourself back as they drive, sitting up and getting your feet to the hips. Once you're at the hips you can ride it out a bit, then move one leg to under the back of their knee, the other on the outside of their knee, then take a grip on the hooked leg and use it to lift their body and sweep. Another good option from the feet on the hips is to push their head to the ground, swinging either leg right over them, scissoring your legs to attack the turtle.

In rolling I did decently. I noticed myself playing with much more transitions. I used to try to lock my opponent down when I had a good position, but now when it gets difficult I try to automatically move to a path with less resistance. I think I got 7 rounds in, all blues except for one white and one purple. God, rounds feel so short out here compared to Brazil, I love it. A few times I had to muscle my way out of a bad position, but didn't get tapped and was rarely in a bad place. Tapped two blues with an arm triangle and could have pwned the white belt but was nice. Two blue belts in particular still gave me a hell of a time (You know who you are, Jeremy), hopefully as I settle in I can get these guys too.

Going to lift today.

Marathon lift day, upped weights on a few things and finished all sets. Felt ******* great...might have been the 200mg of caffeine beforehand. Weight is up to 205lbs already.

I've got another shipment of supplements in from SVNCanada.com (Please sponsor me someone), here's what I picked up.

Whey Protein Blend
Creatine Monohydrate
Multivitamin with Greens
D-Bol (natural test booster)
5-HTP
Joint Support (Glucosamine + Chrondroitin + MSM)

Jumping from no supplements in Brazil to a bunch of stuff to help weight gain and recovery time. I'm experimenting with D-Bol, which is not the super intense prohormones it used to be, just a bunch of natural test boosters that may or may not work. I just like experimenting with these things. Also bought 5-HTP which is supposed to be excellent for mood enhancement and sleeping. I have to say, it's working great so far.

Past 3 or 4 days has seen alot of social events, eating of unhealthy foods and casual drinking. Not going to lie, I'm kind of sick of the unhealthy habits already. Cleaning my diet up today after grocery shopping, then once I settle into a common routine I'll post my diet.

BJJ tomorrow.

BJJ

Technique was collar choke -> ezekiel from back -> armbar combo. Taking back crucifix, collar choke finishes and an armbar.

In rolling I got a very skilled purple belt first round. Luckily working against skilled open guard players is working better for me since Brazil. I managed past his guard into side, and dominated position for awhile, including taking mount and back. I eventually caught him with an armbar and tapped this particular purple for the first time. The round must have went extra long, I knew the law of averages was going to work out over time and he was going to get me, caught me with a collar choke from bottom half guard. Very good roll. Next blue belt that I often stalemate with. It seemed to be going that way again but I passed his guard finally just before the end of the round. Third roll was with another tough blue belt. I believe I got past the guard but it didn't last long. Right near the end I got swept from a stand. Good class. Muay Thai + MMA tomorrow.

Muay Thai
Skipping, Shadowboxing, drilled combos

MMA
More standup combos, taking top crucifix from side control, some ground and pound technique.

Definitely feeling the lack of Kajan today. My training partner and I want to drive to Vancouver to drop in for his class tomorrow. My shoulder got tweaked on monday and I've been nursing it since, so I'll make the judgement call on it tomorrow.

A lady friend wants me to go try hot yoga tomorrow morning, will give it a shot.

Hot Yoga was great. We did 90 minutes and there were a few points where I found myself near my breaking point but pushed through. I found my balance and flexibility to carry over well to Yoga, but certainly with room for improvement because while you may stretch in training, you never focus on it quite like this. I felt very lightheaded and probably could have passed out if I pushed myself harder. This is a good feeling to seek out and embrace, because that utter exhaustion reminds me of heavy sparring and fighting. You get mentally comfortable in that place and you'll be much more dangerous. I was by far the sweatiest person there, dripping like crazy until my towel was beyond it's ability to absorb anymore of my abuse.

I'm going to take a nap and make a judgement call on going to Vancouver to see Kajan tonight. My shoulder does feel decent but I don't trust it. Plus, I think my body is going to be a little extra exhausted from this new stimulus this morning.

Something in my new supplement regiment is making me ill. I feel sick to my stomach immediately after taking them all, and then I'm pooping kibbles and bits 20 minutes later. I'm going to take them slowly one after the other today and see which one is doing it. My theory is it's the D-Bol.

Got out to the new gym, hit some rounds and caught up with Kajan.

This move is going to be interesting. Still lots of uncertainties. Not an easy road, this spot.
