For some reason my sleepings ****ed up again. It feels like I'm tired all day until I go to class in the evening, then when it's over I can't get to sleep until midnightish even if I've been up at 5am that day and the day before. Then the drowsiness all day causes me to have a coffee or two which contributes to not sleeping and so on...I'll get back into the sleep habit eventually. Morning gym sucked but I got through it.
Kickboxing
15 mins skipping, techniques practiced involvineg lots of jabs, blocking, countering, and a slip to hook combo. Jabbed a wall a 100 times because people were getting sloppy, then did some jab + leg kick combos, that's class.
MMA was shooting for double knees then taking down, then shooting for single leg and taking down, and escaping the single leg takedown, then an armdrag to takedown. Sparred takedowns, then went on to roll from standing. I did pretty well all around here and am feeling a bit more comfortable with wrestling which is definitely something I'm lacking experience in.
I'm super tired and sore but it's good to be back and not have any nagging injuries, 2 days of glorious rest begins now.
Deadlifts failed. Squats and bench lowered to break through plateaus, deadlifts will be joining em next week. Today I felt considerably weak and not rested at all. I fear I may be overtraining.

* Mild leg soreness, general aches and pains check
* Pain in muscles and joints check
* Sudden drop in performancecheck
* Insomnia check
* Headaches
* Decreased immunity (increased number of colds, and sore throats) check

* Decreased appetite check
* Increased incidence of injuries.
* A compulsive need to exercise
I don't know if overtraining is causing these things, or if it's lack of sleep. I'm pissed off about my ****ed up sleep patterns. I'll sort it out.
Went back to sleep and felt better when I woke up.
Jiu-jitsu class. Warmed up with pummelling, then wrestling for dominant position. Then we learned two throws which I did feebly at best. Had a good roll with partner, I don't seem to have much problems passing his guard and dominating positionally at top, though my submission experience is more limited here. When he was on top I held it decently, almost triangled, as he escaped I almost armbarred but he got out of it. Immediately after that I caught him in the alternate collar choke. Near the end he was going hard for an armbar on me and there was a sharp pain from impact on my forearm so I tapped on it. Could have stayed for advanced but wasn't feeling it.
Got lots of sniffling and sneezing going on that's annoying as hell.
Got maybe 5 hours sleep last night. Morning gym hitting pads was was alright I suppose. Punch combos, 100 kicks, 50 knees, done. Lacked that certain energy though and my cold cut my cardio down a bit. Not too bad either though. Going to go back to sleep now.
I picked up some melatonin 1.5 mg capsules after reading around on wikipedia. I took it immediately after class (8.30) and I can feel it kicking in. Hopefully this well help get my system into a pattern suitable to train to my full ability.
MMA class was tough but good. Long warm up run, followed by learning a variant of the sprawl that favors one side. Your lead leg swings straight back while your back leg goes out and to the side, landing mostly on your lead legs hip and your hands. This gives you a better position to return to standing. Practiced this, then started shadowboxing while sprawling on command. 10 minutes of this was absolutely gruelling. For technique we kept with the theme of staying on your feet by learning how to return to a stand while someones in your half guard. Underhook, shrimp to the side, keep head square and dug into other guys chest, get up on your elbow, reach a leg out to the side, then bring other leg way back as you step up and clinch. Then we learned to get from side control to half guard and then to stand up. Drilled that for awhile. End of class. I feel sleep creeping up on me now even though I've only been up for 12 hours today since I went back to sleep. :lol: Gym tomorrow morning.
Weighed 210lbs. Melatonin worked wonders, I've tried sleep aids before but they never helped in getting to sleep, they just made sure I stayed knocked out all night and well into the morning, which is not something I needed help with, but this shit is perfect. Took me maybe half an hour to fall asleep tops, and only because I was so stoked in knowing that it's working. Hopefully it'll help me reset my clock to fit my training and I won't rely on it for more than a month. Jiu-Jitsu tonight.
BJJ Class. Warm up, practiced passing guard from a stand, practiced flipping over a person (hard to explain), drilled passing guard. Nothing to exciting to report, except that I got some deep elbow soreness going on right now. Taking tomorrow morning off.
Our gym is holding a 2 day grappling tournament at the end of November. I'm going to enter it...nothing really to lose and it should be a good experience. It's Gi one day, no-gi the next day. I figure I'll enter both. There's an open weight class but at the moment I think I'll just do it within my own weight division which is the second heaviest.
I'm ot going to change my training in the meantime. Hopefully I can get into the advanced jiu-jitsu class so I can learn quicker and get more used to rolling in a gi.
