Due to the new semester at school I am eligible for wrestling now. So my workouts have changed hugely since the practices are so brutal. I'm doing lots of squats and front squats and cleans and jerks and pull ups, I do push ups instead of bench, usually 5x5 for most workouts, sets of 50 for push ups (with my toes on a swiss ball.
I am going 189, so I've already basically stopped eating anything except fruit, lots of chewing tobacco, I was just 204.5 with my home scale with is about 2 lbs less then the official so Im around 206ish I need to be 200 lb by saturday where I think I'm going 215 because our kid (monster) who is cutting down is around 230 still.
Anyways, we had 3 hour practice today, did king of the mountain twice, which is 1on1 and the winner stays on, I won 3 matches before I got near side cradled by our 171, really need to work on my ground game. We did a little bit of conditioning some springs, piggy back carries, LOTS of bear crawls. I had forgotten what kind of shape wrestling demands so I was huffing for air about 30 minutes into it. It was great to be back out there, regardless of how sore I am. We had a kid come over from a neighboring school who spent 2 months at Oklahoma this summer with their team, he is 171 and the fastest person I've ever seen on the mat, it was breathtaking when he would do an ankle pick. He said his main school is Harvard if he decides to wrestle in college. Kid is only a junior and won states last year, and it would be an upset if he didnt win them his next two years.

After practice I did;
Pull ups 5x10
Cleans 135x5
185x4x5

Tonight I am going to do some sprints for 14 minutes to help with my cardio and to blast some fat, got a huge ass hill near me that I need to get acquainted with. Hopefully it wont be to tough to get to 189, but right now it seems as though it will be.

Good shit. Pull ups are hard as hell! Nice job with them. You're going to look like a new man, all lean and shit! haha. Good luck with wrestling and all that, I'll be following the log.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting below 200 lbs. So I am running more, with lots and lots of layers, and it aint cold out. I did 2.2 miles this morning in 13 mins and just did 2 almost all uphill (ran the mountain thats right behind my house) in about 15. Also, I am basically done eating real food until I drop to ~195 because thats just a few saunas of weight.

I am about to do some more pull ups, gonna shoot for 100, no matter how many sets, and going to ATG front squats (going for 5x5 w/ 225) and some real crisp form snatches. Will get back on later and type up how it went.

Real nervous about how my back handles so many damned pull ups.

Alrighty, well I think I got to around around 75 pulls ups total before I gave up and did squats and snatches.

225x5x5 front squats

snatches
did 95x3x3
135x5x1 basically a form check

we had a meet this morning. First guy i wrestled looked like he had never been on a mat before, got the take down after like 5 seconds of locking up, he went to his back so i got the head lock, planted between his legs, rolled him up into a near side cradle.

second match. the kid was real light on his feet so i tried to time an ankle pick-fail. he sprawled, hard. i was able to get ahold of his thigh, i kept spinning with him until i could walk up him. nothin really happened for the rest of the first, it was 0-0. about 10 seconds in he gets an arm drag to a high crotch on me and takes me down (2-0) and im a pretty damn bad bottom wrestler so i was getting nervous, but he tried to cradle me, and when he tried walkin my head up to my leg i just rolled with it and sat out before he could grab me. (2-1) locked up i got over under and just lifted and dropped him. (3-2), i threw olive branches so he couldn't move and just locked him on the mat and he kept squirming so i jammed my chin into his eye, he promptly stopped moving and i got the pin. dirty as hell, i know.

third match was easy because the schools 189 came in at a whopping 211.

3-0 so far this season, not bad. really need to work on my bottom game and my first step. I dont have a problem locking up with people and gettin down like that, but when i shoot from the outside it usually fails pretty bad. Just an aside, our 171 is 11-0.

if anyone knows some good agility drills and tips and all please let me know.
