I know, I know, dumb question.

I am way out of shape and tired of it. I am looking for motivation and was wondering if Training Logs and Nutrition Logs were a good way to help myself.

If yes, what is important to mark in these logs (other than the obvious for nutrition and the training log)? Goals you'd like to reach? Things you would like to accomplish? Or is it just simply marking down the exercise and number of sets you do throughout each week with each workout?

Thanks.

Skip the logs and join a MMA gym. Nothing motivates you like supportive friends and peers. Logs measure improvement more than it motivates. Typically you need a few weeks of logs to use them as motivation and by then you've lost interest.

Speaking from personal experience.

Hmmm. The gym i can see, but i simply mean at-home-workouts.
Otherwise, yes, i am all for joining an MMA gym. Just need the actual time to get out for a few hours.

Honestly we just got 'Wii Active' and it is pretty decent. It is very good at tracking workouts and such.

If you don't have a Wii you can look at some of the training/diet blogs on this site. Some of the fighters here provide very good information on blogs and such.

People have different motivators. I recommend motivating through self-actualization if possible. Set long term and short term goals. Find positive motivators such as music.

Some people take a picture of themselves and use it to get them fired up to turn themselves from what they are into what they want to be. I think that approach is a little on the self-loathing side of life but it works for some.

Am I providing you useful feedback at all? Are you looking for specific examples and links and such?

No no, very helpful stuff. I like the self-actualization and the self-loathing stuff you put in there. Pretty concrete.
Thanks bud.
