Well, I Figure why not throw one of these up. I'm starting my training for my next fight in December, I think it's on the 19th and its going to be at Light Heavy Weight.

General Info
Age:24
Weight:230lbs (as of 9-18-09)
Diet: AWFUL

I work out at numerous gyms my main gym has weights, cardio equipment, and is where i do most of my training.

If anyone has any help they can give me on dieting it would be greatly appreciated. What I did for my first fight probably wasn't the smartest way to diet.

This was my monday-friday food schedule.

Breakfast: Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee with choc. Chip Muffin

Lunch: 6" Veggie Sub on Wheat no cheese little dressing (subway)

Dinner: Couple pieces of chicken/Deli Meat before passing out.

I followed this for 4 weeks to get from 235 to 215. The thursday before the weigh in I ate lunch and that was my last meal until after weighing in. I was at 225 that day, and when i woke up i was at 220, and when i went to cut the last of it i had lost another lb, and only had to cut 4lbs.

I didn't feel weak or anything training while doing it, but i know its not how i should be cutting weight.

Im thinking of starting a log here as well, but what good is it if no one reads it! (Plenty good) Feel free to check mine out when I get it up and running.

Where are you fighting out of? It seems like you have fought before, what is your record? Are you primarily a striker, or a submission guy? GNP?

I fight out of Bridgwater MA, I work my striking a lot, but i consider myself more of a grappler... I'm 1-0 in MMA as an amateur and won VIA TKO do to strikes. not GnP either the guy was still standing leaning aginst the cage eating my punches.

Weight: 231

Warmup: 3 laps around the building then right into 2X3min rounds of shadow boxing

3X3min rounds of Mitt work
3X3min rounds of sparring

15X1min rounds of kickboxing sparring rotating every minute to new partners no rest

then we went over some striking drills for the newer guys, while they drilled i worked on the Thai Bags.

the last half hour we rolled for 1 5min round rotating to new partners.


wasn't the greatest work out i've had but i like working on my striking alot, i feel comfortable on the ground but less comfortable on my feet.

my diet still sucks,

Breakfast:
D&D Iced Coffee and Choc Chip muffin

Lunch: 6" Subway Chicken salad on Wheat with Bacon, Cucumbers, Pickles, Banana Peppers.

Dinner: Chicken Wrap, mexican seasoned chicken with salsa, and ranch dressing...


Getting back on a good diet is awful, I dread it every day.

I took tuesday off due to having to be here at work until 7pm and couldn't make it to the gym in time.

Weight: 231
I didn't get much of warm up due to having to teach the kids MMA class, coach was going to be late and I teach both classes when he's out anyway.

We did King of the Mat drills open mat takedowns, winner stays. then we rolled for 3x5min rounds. then more takedown drills against the cage wall. then more rolling for ever. then the last 15min of class was a circuit, i stayed at one station and everyone rotated through me. i was on my back they had to pass, i had to sweep or submit, the only guys who could pass where the super HWY because i couldn't lock my guard up tight due to the enormity of them.


Diet....still isn't going good..

Breakfast: Iced Coffee Muffin

Lunch: Burger and Beef Stew

Dinner: Chili and Chicken sandwich wrap thing

and i totally had some candy in there too...

Ok with the New Year comes a new Grizzly Bear, I'm on my quest to be a 205er by march, see how i feel fighting at that weight, then maybe trying to make the cut to 185. I'm going to talk to some of my friends that are really good at dieting to get this figured out.

Ill post the starting weight im at after i get home from the gym today, heres hoping that im only at like 230-235 still... i weighed in at 240 for my last fight back on dec. 19th

Ok my weight last night was at 238.5lbs, not to bad i guess.

I trained for a solid 3 hours yesterday, and also got the worst cramp in my ab's ever...

I started with 5 X 3min rounds working the bags (heavy, Thai, Uppercut).

Tossed my Gi on, and did some light rolling before class started, Trained for 30mins on drills and a butterfly guard pass and a setup on how to take the back from side control. Then he had me go No-Gi with one of our guys whos fighting for the XCFL LHW Title next month (http://www.XCFLMMA.com)...

Got tossed around by him almost got some slick submissions on him, he seems a little rusty for being a blue belt.

After BJJ i got talked into doing Boxing Team Training, we started off with 1 3min round of circleing the ring for a warm up...even though i was plenty warm already... 3 guys ran stairs for the 2nd round while 3 of us did side to side drills with medicine balls over head. then switched for stairs, then switched for shadowboxing, then stairs again.

Then we got ready for sparring, at which point i was already dead tired, and while the other guys where sparring we where doing catch drills back and forth, I did a total of 3 rounds sparring, and have NO faith in my boxing skills, I just need to get sparring more.. We ended with 30sec drills on the heavy bags, each guy switching every 30 seconds going for 2min each total then some ab work which gave me the worst cramp ever. Just one AB was hard as a rock... it sucked...

This mourning im at 236

Ok, last night I ended up having to run the Kids MMA class so no Boxing workout for me before my MMA class. Did some takedown drills with the "older" kids who are going into highschool next year, while another coach took the small kids and did some live wrestling with them.

MMA was a pretty decent class, like most January's the class size was huge, a ton of newbs... we did Cards for most of the class, where you get in groups of 3 and you pick a number (1,2,3) and we go through a list of numbers like 1up 2up, 2down 3up...2 minute rounds no breaks in between until you've done all of them... the last half of class we did some catch drills, some pumbling(sp?) and the 30sec drill on the heavy bags again...

I was going to head to Lauzons after but my body was begining to cramp up already so I decided to take it easy until im use to punishing myself like this again..its been awhile...

I'm taking tonight off to rest, my legs and back are tight today don't wanna push it to hard right off the bat.. Friday I have team training where ill get bloody'd up pretty good, and saturday im going to do some cardio after work. and Sunday is a new Strength and Conditioning class that just started last week...but no one told me until this week.

Thats my super nutritious breakfast also, except a blueberry muffin instead.

OK a new week!

I didn't train at all last week, I have been feeling a little under the weather so I took the week off.

Lets see how it goes...

Also I have just found out starting in March when the AC take over MMA here apparently unless an outside sanctioning body comes in there can be NO Ammy MMA here anymore... which is either a blessing or a curse for me... I either get to go Pro like i want in march, or I have to travel to other places to fight...which sucks because I either have to go north to New Hampshire or to CT where you can't throw strikes to the face on the ground.
