I powered through the weakness and just finnished my workout.

So far I have done 1x the circuit as the beginning, and 2x two back to back cycles about an half hour between the back to back cycles.

I love the challenge! Fly mike fly!

Day of Rest

I had to take the night off from a cardio session, it was painful walking around today during work due to all of the broken down muscles in my legs.

I love this feeling but I have to produce this so much more if I am to go and compete.

Experiment: Day 2

Hey guys, I am still going through and giving plasma once a week.

I went in around 9:30 this morning and got out around noon, went to a sports nearby to browse and picked up some mesh shorts. "it seems like I can never have enough of them"

I went to subway again and ordered a foot-long chicken breast sandwich on some Italian herb & cheese bread. I decided to get a meal with a cookie to get some sugar and they had blue powerade so I had 3 glassfuls of that during the meal.

I got home just after 1pm or so and finished watching UFC 129 and crashed in bed till about 7 and spent 15-minutes out on the bag after that I went to my old high school's track for some solo cardio work.

Tonight was a short workout due to the spike in the temperature. We have had a 2-day heatwave of 100 degrees.

400-yard sprints: 3 sets of 4 down and back sprints
lateral fist ups: 3 sets of 30 in between the sprints
3-way crunches: 3 sets of 30 left-center-right crunches
flexibility stretches: as a cool-down prior to going back to the sprints.

I am starting to enjoy the sprint-work...but I'll never get used to saying it is fun.

I talked with a friend at church who is a physical therapist and he believes I should focus on heavy cardio like I was doing tonight to make my way down to 160 pounds.

I am not sure if I can drop 16 pounds just by cardio though...I weighed in at 177 pounds this morning after eating two things of yogurt, two english muffins, and two pints of milk. I also had a mini snack of a protein bar and a pint of milk at the center.

I am working on a brutal calorie cut of 4-6 hundred calories to try to see if that twill help me on my way to a lighter weight. When I am not at the gym I am shooting for a total of 1,800 calories and today when I worked on my cardio I hit 2,100.

I'll find out monday morning roughly how much weight I've lost due to the stringent diet-plan.

I plan on going and doing the plasma on monday and going for a cardio session that night.

tuesday I don't about yet, I could go to the gym or take a day of rest.

Wednesday I'll do a late night cardio session at the track.

Thursday gym night.

Friday day of rest or gym up in the air...

Saturday I would like to do a cardio session at the track

Sunday, church and then softball at 9pm yea a late game..

Jitsu-session

First off I will be going through a 6-week training camp that will put me into a jiu-jitsu tournament on the 9th of July.

I talked with my instructor and I will be making a decision during the camp on if I go with a gi or no-gi for my matches.

I am not sure right now, but if I had to I'd stick with going with the "no-gi".

He was telling me about a way to get a gi for almost nothing and I'll look into it so I can have a nice sweat lodge haha!
------------------------------------------------------------
I was a little late for practice and was forced to do 100-pushups as punishment no a large deal...but I haven't done a high rep pushup for ages and was surprised that I hit 75-before I started to tire out...the last 25 were freaking excruciating.
------------------------------------------------------------
after that I joined a 3x 3-minute circuit drill:
1st round combos on a free-standing bag "you pick any combo you want for hand-strikes and you had to use any kick to finish"

2nd round on the mat with a 80-pound throw bag, "ground and pound mixed with you mimicking being swept and retaking the mount."

3rd round shadow work of your desire.
------------------------------------------------------------
after we went through the conditioning we worked on 3 or 4 variations of the armbar, I cannot tell you much about them.

We worked on a beautiful sweep from being mounted in full-guard: if you sweep to the left you grab above the right elbow and forcibly pull it down and under your back after you roll to your left on your hip and bring his leg in and you grab the shin and pull it as far in as possible and roll him over.

we worked on an armbar from the side mount.
------------------------------------------------------------
There was a key-lock submission, loved that little beauty!

from the key-lock we moved into an armbar.
------------------------------------------------------------
did a kimura from side-control, once I got that down I enjoyed the sucker, it was awesome I was working the technique on our 290-pounder and I was tapping him out. I know he wasn't providing a lot of resistance but it felt good none-the-less.
------------------------------------------------------------
after the kimura we learned a north-south choke, once I got the fluid-motion of the legs I was garnering huge praise from the guys.
------------------------------------------------------------
After the north south we did some sort of arm-drag choke I guess you could call it, I don't know much about it though.
------------------------------------------------------------
After going through the technique drilling we finally got to rolling.

We are starting from our knees now for whatever reason, I don't mind...sadly for me right now it is one of the worst positions for me to start in.

I think I put in 30 or so rolls tonight and learned from the all while being submitted.

I was doing extremely well with not letting my opponent force me into a danger-zone without putting up vicious stalling.

I was in a zone with my partner johnny, somehow he had taken full-mount and I was trying to remember how to escape through the back-door but messed up somehow by thinking to put my left hand under his ass I guess and I did get out partially but landed in a triangle choke.

From the triangle I was on my feet sprawled out I think, and I reacted before thinking and started to pick johnny up to a 90-degree angle to the mats and slammed him in, and tried a 2nd time but he snared my left leg which made it impossible.

I am finding that I have a knack for finding adrenaline shots that put extreme power into my legs.
------------------------------------------------------------
I had a near submission on Jerry the 290 lb'r or at least I thought...as I look at it, I was pulling rubber guard if that's what you would call it. I had my right inside elbow all the way snug against his neck and was cranking with a gable-grip as hard as I possibly could crank in hopes to get some sort of choke on the giant. I have some crazy ass heavy endurance in my arms, I proved to myself once again it doesn't matter how damned long it lasts but until the opponent finds a way to break the attack on his neck I will put every ounce of my body into the kill for the submission.

I am not sure but it seemed like I had him immobile for over 45-seconds.
------------------------------------------------------------

After the rolling we did a pushup ladder which I failed like a little bitch...on the guys decided 11 to 1 for me, I was doing perfectly fine until I hit 8...which is where my endurance for the pushup totally collapsed.

They had me trying to get the last sets on my hands and knees for a *****-up but I couldn't even get that I was so bloody shot.

I ended up doing crunches instead. Hell I'll tell them if you want it I 'll do a 25 to 1 ladder with crunches.

Awesome night of jitsu

I made some giant leaps in tonight's session.

We started off with 4 five-minute rounds of circuit drills:
round 1: attacking an unfilled freestanding bag, hand-strike combos ending in a kick of any kind.

round 2: fight-situational shadow drill. I worked on a muy thai envisioned shadow drill with lots of 1-4 strike combos ending in a low or mid-kick, some ending with knees, I forgot to add elbows into the fray next time. Every once and awhile I dropped to the mat and worked a sweep to gnp and a few armbars.

round 3: shrimping down and back on a long mat.

round 4: ground and pound on a throw-dummy, and being swept then you regain etc...
-----------------------------------------------------------
We are focusing on starting our rolls from our knees.

I rolled with johnny for a few times to start the night.

In one of the rolls I was very very defensible against his choke attacks, I survived a very long time against him in that roll and he was apparently shocked. I was deflecting chokes with my left hand cupped around my head and both hands for a little while. I don't know all the details as how I survived so long but the instructor was extremely pleased.

I rolled with jerry our 300-pound behemoth! Jerry is a very good white belt, he is learning to control himself and become extremely methodical. He and I worked on a situation start where I was in his guard.

I didn't realize it at the time but I was being baited into going for the guard pass into his left-side half guard. I went into the pass 3 or 4 rolls and couldn't any advantage.

I had two rolls with johnny after that defensive roll that I nearly submitted him in:
1 roll I had landed somehow into a headlock that I turned into a north-south choke, I wasn't able to secure the choke fully and he put it on me.....
the other roll with him I made a full-fledged pass to his half guard and saw the armbar but I was swept before I could attempt the submission.

I had a lot of failures like usual but I am piecing things together now.

sorry

Hey guys, I am sorry I haven't updated in awhile now.

I have been getting frustrated with my computer crashing.

I have some good news, I am on the road to war! I am entering in my very first jiu-jitsu tourney on the 9th of july.

For about a month now I have been on a reduced calorie diet and I believe I am starting to see the dividends paying off. I would like to see the fat melt away but pounds are pounds!

I went in for a plasma donation today and hit 170.5, I've been seeing a 177,76,74,72 and the 70.5 today over my five visits so far.

I am fairly positive my dry weight is around 164-66 currently.

I would ideally like to drop 2-4 more pounds via the diet prior to the water cut if it would be possible so I don't experience a horrible amount of water loss during the 1st official water cut I'll be making ending on the 8th of july.

I doubt 5-pounds of water weight would be too horrid to loose and recover.

Conditioning session-solo

I went to a local track and did a conditioning session focused on cardio, flexibility and power.

I stretched a good deal during the 2-hour session, I loved the extra time I spent tonight prior, during and post workout.

To start the work at the track I did 2 sets of 10 tire upends.

I ran hard for 2 miles posting a 1st and 2nd mile of 9 & 7 minutes.

After this I did core work, pushups, burpees: 50 directional crunches, 25 reverse crunches, 25 pullup burpees.

after this I did a half mile of light jogging.

after this I worked on my lateral and vertical height flexibility for my legs on some bleachers.

went and did pullups, core work same as above.

after this another light half mile jog.

after this I talked two random joggers into a mma circuit.

we ended up doing 5 sets of 5 tire upends and 5 standing tire press.

after this I did a 15 minute yoga session to go into a final stretch for the night.

It was fantastic and I might go and do it again tomorrow.

36-days

Hey guys, I am at the 36 day mark!

I went in for a fantastic night of training.

My instructor's Instructor Gene came in for a kick seminar.

We warmed up like normal, and for some reason I cussed when I was telling my instructor my gnp was shit..."it was shitty sir" had to do 50 pushup for that.

We worked on such a wide array of kicks that I can't remember all the details...
------------------------------------------------------------
After nearly 3/4 of 2.5 hours was done we finally rolled for a little while.

I had 5 or 6 total rolls due time constraints but I fought my heart out.

I went up against mike who is a very strong wrestler first and fought hard with my defense and lasted a long time before eventually getting subbed by a rear naked, I can't recall the name of the defense I used...but I cupped my palms on the base of my neck to prevent the choke from starting.

my last roll, was the best yet! I had gotten into a butterfly guard with mike, and he wanted to dig his chin into my chest so I thought fine I'll tie up.

I threw my left arm over his neck and caught onto my right elbow and I grabbed my left bicep with my right hand and held him there...while I dabbled with trying to buck him then I finally bucked him good and swept to the left and landed in a near north south mount with my left arm in place for a choke...but I lost the submission battle and lost the match.

THe instructor was thoroughly impressed and gave me a hug and slap...Never felt better than tonight other than submitting johnny that 1st night haha.

34 days and 11 pounds!

Hey guys, I spent an awesome night with my instructor watching fights.

Were talking about the coming competition and he was talking about how he's been bulking up.

I decided to step on the scale and I read 166.2 pounds!

I've been working my ass off with my diet and it is paying off big-time!

It was great I was showing him how I stalled for a moment in my last session with the arm drape sweep. He had me work the same idea from his closed guard and showed me a way to do a choke with the same mechanics as the rear naked choke but from the closed guard.
