Health Scare

I saw my general DR today,

Spiked a 100 yesterday, puked twice, general nausea/light headed, extra painful sinus headache, a local headache in my left eye, general headache.

He thinks there's a possibility of MRSA...if that's the case i'm screwed for a long time.

I've been feeling slightly better after going through the medicine regiment that I"ve been on for almost a week now.

I've dropped physical training to recover all much more rapidly.

I am still working like a mad-man at work. I am needing new work shoes, because of all the fast-paced walking I am doing during a day. I am certain I am walking 5 or 6 miles a day.

There was a medicinal steroid in the mix and it's got a lovely main side-effect "electrolyte imbalance" I've been super thirsty this week compared to others.

in a general day I'm taking in a liter of water/milk prior to work, 2 liters of powerade during the 30-minute break, if I'm lucky I have a 15 minute break there as well where I eat a 400-calorie pack of yogurt and drink another liter of water., after work i'll have another liter of liquid before I shower an call it a day.

Sunday was one of the more satisfying days for me in a long time. I was able to eat 5 meals through the day and ended up taking in around 3600 calories I believe.

I finally recovered from 2 illnesses....

I spent today working on my bag technique.

I worked sets of 10's,25's, and 50's for the straight right and jab.

20x10, 8x25, 7x50 for both strikes.

I did 250 right handed power reverse punch along with 100 right roundhouse.

The punching felt fantastic, I haven't had a chance to hit a bag for 2-months now that I think about it?

I noticed my knuckles were soft, and tore a dime sized patch off of my right index and middle fingers fist knuckle.

I endured the pain of torn flesh on the bag, and went through to the end. Nothing is more satisfying than to push past what the mind tells you is suicidal.

I've been working non-stop, and it was taking it's toll on me. I am going to have to find a better balance between work and training.

The last 3 days, I've been doing light boxing drills:
4x two minute rounds.

I had a productive day of training today:

It was 92 degrees outside, so I sat in the yard warming up after taking a double-dose of the jack3d, for about 30 minutes.

After I was soaking from the sun, I did 250 1-2 combo in the yard in sets of 50's with a minute of rest between the sets.

My yard is about 30 or 40 yards long so I did sets of 5 and ended up doing 10 of these. With 2 minutes of rest between the sets.

Three 5 minute rounds of leg work around our metal pole in the ground.

5x 100 jab each set 90-seconds of rest between and straight rights. it hurt to keep my hands held in guard posture..

4x5 right roundhouse kicks and 4x 10 right roundhouse kicks with 15 and 20 seconds of rest between the sets.

I drank 2 liters of water through this workout.

I intend to work my kicking game back up slower this time around.

I've been continuing the same base-plan as prior. When I get a chance to go to the yard I'm doing the same as I Listed prior.

Tonight's yard-work was longer, I loaded up on some potassium heavy drinks and a load of water and loosened up for 2-hours in the 90-degrees.

I went through the same routine as previous but added an hour to the warming up.

There's been one new development, I've added the 50lb single-hand curl and bent over row into my overall cardio/power circuit right at the beginning.

6x50lb curl, 6x 50lb bent over row, then the 80lb lifts. I am still doing the 80lb curl at the end as well for endurance.

I am in the process of upping the circuit weight to 90-100-110-120-130. I am not really sure how long it'll take me to reach 130 but I will do it eventually.

I ended up hitting 125-lb lifts about 6 weeks ago, and had a short run on it before I fell into a streak of horrible spasm-attacks.

I recently felt good since sunday, starting my way back into conditioning is going well and feels fantastic.

I am up to 180 pounds.

New Gym!

I Had one hell of a good way to start the week....tuesday morning I got a call from the employer saying an overnight job was open.

I went in and talked with the 2 directors of nursing and resumed work that night.

So monday night I was pissed off and decided to take the jack3d supplement for a lifting session. I was happy with the results yet again.

I did 5 sets of 15 dead-lift @ 125lbs. I took a 15 second break after the 1st, 30, 45, 60, & 75.

After that I was done. I stretched out with the yoga I have in my brain from old. I wasn't able to do a lot of the yoga due to cramps.

So Monday night I sent my instructor a mail telling him what happend at work and asked if I could drop in for a session for today and he tells me just come in.

I knew the gym is now a boxing gym. Which was appealing to me because Brad my instructor taught us primarily jiu-jitsu.

I know some karate, muy thai, and jiu-jitsu...but the boxing was lacking sorely.

So I guess this is god helping me out.

I arrived at 5:30, helped out with setup hanging of bags and hauling gear out of a locker.

We did some light stretching and then 20 pushups, 25 crunches in a 2 part circuit to 100.

I gave out and was maybe able to do at most 70 pushups.

We did 5 rounds of 5-minute drills with drill change @ 30 seconds:
1-2's
running 1-2's
jumping jacks
ducking
bob and weave

After this there were 6 rounds of 5 minute drill:
bag work
pad work

you had an even split.

I mainly worked on a 1-2, left hook, right upper cut on a uppercut bag. I am so rusty I just wanted to pound something into my brain for the 1st time in ages.

From what my partner said during the pad-work my jab was pretty good. He mentioned he liked the power I have in my left hook.

After this, The main coach had me flip a tire down and back across the parking lot. From the amount of power left in my legs I did this relatively easy. After that I was told to do 50 sledgehammer strikes onto a tire.

I was out of gas complete by the end of all this, so much that I didn't attempt a pushup ladder at the end of the night.

Overall the 1st day back went fair in my mind. I will have to wait till my next check to sign up.

Day - Two:
We've got a few coaches in the gym. Jeff & Brad are the main coaches.

Jeff had us run 10-12 laps as a prelude to the conditioning.

I managed 10 in the time we had.

After this the 100 crunches & pushups again. I believe I hit 70-75 pushups out of 100 due to failure. On the last set of crunches I cranked out 2 for every one they did so I got in 150 of them tonight. I may end up trying to do 2 or 3 for every crunch the team does.

After the crunch & pushup circuit we had a large circuit drill:
30-second bursts @
Forward jumps over a line & side to side 10 jumps then switch.
jump rope
Medicine ball twists to pass to partner behind you.
Squat jumps
one-pound one-two combos
ducking (for lack of better terms)
one hand medicine ball pushups

we did 3x5 minute rounds of this

after this we did 3 rounds of 5 minute work on pads or bag, tonight I worked with a new kid (I'm new as well) on pads.

I strung some nice combos together. I noticed the partner was dropping his right hand so I told him "if you continue dropping the hand I'll hit ya" so when he did I threw a left hook with the mitt. It was a good thing for me and him.

After the mitt work we went outside for tire work.

We did 30 sledgehammer strikes per arm into a large tire. I heard Brad my personal coach commenting "he's got one of the heaviest strikes here tonight!" I was dragging that damn tire backwards with my blows!

After this I was told to do 20 double jumps, we would jump into the tire's center then jump out then run back to the start point. I was able to do 10 of these before I bent over wheezing like a coward.

After this was done we ran 5 blocks down and back to the gym.
