Day 21
I've had a bit of a break in training.

Got back after being occupied with work outside the gym.

I led the pushups, and got 115 in tonight and was battling through them. Got in 200 crunches.

After the circuit warmup above, we did 3-three minute rounds of bob & weave, ducking, slips, and rotation movement.

I Primarily helped a new face in the gym tonight.

I saw the coach leading a pushup ladder, when I saw this I had the new guy do a 10.

I gave a shot at 14 which was 3 more than the last one I'd done and got through it.

Day 22 & 23
I am sorry I missed a few.

Last wednesday I got a session in before the new years.

I had a good sparring bout with a young member of the gym.

I danced around him, and forced him to take the initiative.

Right at the end, of the 3-minutes I landed a right hook to his head.

------------------------------------
Tonight was 23.

The last 2 sessions, I have been in charge of our circuit drills so I am doing the bare-minimum right now.

After the circuit of pushup and situp, we did 6-5 minute rounds of calisthenics.

2 rounds of slipping, bobbing, weaving. 2 rounds of 1-2, over head 1-2, and jumping jacks.
2 rounds of v-ups, bicycle crunches, and what jeff calls butt-ups, you rest your hands at the hips and bring your knees to the chest then raise up straight into the air.

After the conditioning we worked on technique. Jeff and Brad were drilling us on throwing a hook or uppercut after a combo.

I worked with a guy named elliot, who I've taken on as a project. He's around 190 right now and my height. Eventually he'll become a good sparring partner.

I started off holding mitts for him. When the role was reversed I got some extra insight on my right uppercut from brad.

Once I got the technique down, I went purely for power shots.....one of the power shots was a bit low and dug into elliot's gut. It was totally by accident, but at least we found he can take a punch.

I enjoyed the power that I was generating in the right-uppercut.

At the end of the night, I did some light sparring with Jeff. I was doing rather well with my feet. He still has an edge over me in this department.

At one point I slipped and fell to the canvas.

I know that I was on the balls of my feet, and landed a some jabs that were clean. Some of these jabs were while jeff was coming in.

I am feeling better when I am able to land 1st with a jab while he's advancing compared to having to counter him, after he's landed 1st.

Elliot was talking about wanting to run, so hopefully when I have a saturday and sunday free we'll goto a track and do 5 and 10 mile runs both days.

Day 24:

I got in about 5:35 tonight a little late.

On the way I decided I wanted a circuit on the pull-up, dip, and hanging knee machine.

I challenged myself to 5-cycles of 12-10-8-6-4 of the pull ups & dips, and for each hanging knee was 25.
for each circuit I rested until the next round started, sometimes 60-90 seconds.

During the ritual warmup for the team, I cranked out 5x30 push up/ and 4x50 crunches.

Then onto PT as Jeff loves to call it...

We had 3 rounds of 3-minutes each of 1-2, jumping jacks, overhead 1-2, and tricep extension with a 30-second burst.

Then 3 rounds of squats, static lunges, mountain climbers and high knees.

To finish it our we had 3 rounds of core work: v-ups, side crunches, and hip ups.

Tonight was the 1st night we had bags hung in the new facility.

so we went 3-three minute rounds x 3. One group was on the bags, another in the ring hitting mitts, and another working on slipping a jab or right hand.

At the end of the night we did 3x three minute round burnouts on the bag: 1-2, running 1-2, and power shots.

Day 25
Tonight was a laid back night, jeff was talking about having thursday nights as an open gym setting.

I went in and worked on my circuit warmup, and started at 14 tonight for 50 pull ups & dips along with 125 hanging knees.

After this I worked on a bag throwing thai roundhouse with my right leg. I went for 300 strikes tonight....and my shin is beet red and sore as hell!

After going through the thai section jeff had us do 5 rounds of 4-minutes each with 30-second breaks.

Going through this was brutal due to my whole upperbody throbbing from the circuit warmups, I was in fatigue all day and struggled through it tonight.

I was having a hell of a time just keeping my guard up during the stamina drill.

After going for the 20-minutes on the bags, Ben and I sparred 2 rounds.

we went for 4-minute rounds.

the 1st round I was more tense, and blind due to tunnel vision.

the 2nd was vastly better, I remember pawing with a straight right and he'd cover up and retreat...I noticed when he did this his right hand dropped a little. So when he came back in the next time I threw with intent on the right and cracked him with a left hook.

I fooled him a few times with this.

My feet were decent in the 1st, but vastly better in the 2nd.

2 sessions

Day 26

We are running a 4pm session at the gym now due to the amount of boxers in the gym.

I got there at 4:15 and got my circuit blasted out, tonight I pulled off a 18-16-14-12-10 cycle. I am happy with the progress at 1st I did 30 pullups/30 dips and 125 knee raises.

In the 3 days I've done this, I have done 30-40-70. 140 of each and 375 raises.

I got in 100 pushups due to the fact I was counting it off today and 3x50 and 1x100 crunches.

We did 5 rounds at 4-minutes of PT.

some sort of mitt-work.

and then we worked on our feet in the ring for the last portion of activity before doing pushup ladders.

I set a PR of 16 tonight.

After doing the ladder I kept loose working on another 300 right thai roundhouse.

Dan our strength & conditioning coach was in tonight.

We got an hour of his regimen. I was damn close to muscle failure during this hour.

After doing this we were broken into 2 groups 5 on the bags, and the rest in the ring with the coaches working on mitts.

I had 5 four minute rounds on the bags, I threw for technique only during these rounds. I couldn't muster much more.

and then another 5 rounds in the ring on mitts.

I found a new wind when jeff asked if anyone would spar.

I asked one of our assistant coaches to spar. Keny was a boxer at one point.

I eased into the 4-minute round by circling and pawing.

After the initial minute or less, I started to attack his body with straight lefts. I landed a few then tried to land a combo I worked on last night with some degree of effectiveness in scoring clean shots.

I was throwing a feint right cross, then a heavy right cross, followed up by a left hook. the feint dropped the left hand a little, then while I was in close I cracked a hook in.

I threw 2-3 of these feint combos on keny to no sucess, so I threw that out tonight.

After this he swapped to a un-orthadox stance. I tore him open with right hooks to the body when he did this.

I don't know how I figured it out, but I weaved down to the right and came up twisting a right hook into the stomach.

I got a bit of recognition with him holding a glove up for respect.

Since I scored a heavy clean shot, I went to the body 5 more times and landed clean each time.

After this he went orthodox and strung a few flurries together and then it was done.

I have to say it was awesome to get the game down tonight! I really was reacting like I should be as a boxer.

day 27
Monday.

I had the day free, so I prepared for the gym properly.

I got into the gym fresh and recovered from the weekend and blasted away like a madman.

I got in at 4pm, got through the circuit for warming up.

I achieved a 20-18-16-14-12 cycle.

Did some footwork for the last 10-15 minutes of warmups.

Did the bare min for the pushups/crunches due to the fact I led the group.

We worked on a simple combo on pads.

I was in so much pain from the upper-body circuit that I was having a hard time holding the pads for my partner. His shots were hurting haha...

I can't remember what we did at the end for an exercise but it was in the ring.

During the transition between the 1st & 2nd session I did a pushup ladder of 20.

Went through the warmups with 2nd session.

and sparred at the end of the night.

I went with kenny again. I worked on the weave combo I found that worked on him in the 1st session of sparring.

For some reason it still was a powerful tool to utilize.

I had good feet, for half the 4-minute round. I strung a couple combos together.

Mid-way through the round I was dropped by a shot, I had no idea what got me. All I know was my arms went up vertical and my back hit the canvas. When I hit the canvas I sprung right up. Jeff did not have time to start a knockout count on me. He checked me over.

At the time I felt perfectly fine, so I went on.

At the tail end Kenny unloaded flurries up high and I was successful in defending them with my guard.

After the match was over I had asked jeff what kenny had dropped me with. He had said he landed a straight right hand straight to my mouth/chin dead on.

When i was talking with kenny he was saying he sat back and threw a counter right.

Even though I was dropped, one of the combos I landed on kenny was a weave right hook to the body, then I rose up with a left-hook to the head that started a flurry of hooks that were all connecting.

During the talks with kenny, he was saying he was rocked from the hooks.

Today was much the same, except I took it a little light.

Day 29

Got to the gym at 530.

I pounded out the circuit for 22-20-18-16-14 = 90/90/125.

I took the remainder to work on my feet in the ring.

For PT I did 2x50 and 3x40 pushups/ and 100 crunch.

I worked on the bags for awhile not too sure how long, i primarily focused on throwing quick jabs and straight rights for reps of 25.

i got a chance to spar johnny, right beforehand I worked on a simple combo with kenny a stepping jab, jab straight right.

At first my feet allowed me to evade john. I worked the combo above 3-4 times it was ok. I tagged john with numerous clean jabs. Somewhere around the mid-point of the round I ducked and threw an uppercut that went low, it sucked... after that my defense faltered and i had some blood dripping from the nose. At one point I had got close to the ropes, and was weaving like a mad-man and somehow got tangled in the ropes.

Overall I felt light on my feet, I worked something new which was semi productive, i took a shot to the body and didn't flinch, and I gave shot for shot.

Day 30 & 31

I was fired yesterday, and went in to relieve some stress.

I did my circuit and got in 110 pullups/dips and 125 knees.

It was a laid back free gym. Jeff was running us through muy thai.

I am grateful for the boxing, right after our warmup period I do a warm stretch instead of doing it cold. I am seeing a lot of improvement in overall flexibility.

He was wearing his body shield and had the thai pads. When I worked with him it was mainly 1-2-right kick high, then 5 right high kicks, elbows were thrown into the fray as well. I didn't care for the way mind were landing, I guess I just don't have the distance gauged right.

I snapped the kicks in with heavy force, it felt great to slam the pads.

Afterwords I did 2-3 rolls with him, I am outclassed by him due to having no wrestling base. He tosses me around with takedowns and takes an advantageous mount, so I'm dealing with how to score one myself or just transition to a better mount of my own.

i notice when I do grapple now, my power base has grown a lot. I am thinking the circuit I do to warmup has a lot to do with this.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Tonight got in at 4pm and did a double.

I did the circuit and got 120 pull ups/dips and the 125 knees.

to start the day we had a light session, drilling 1-2's with a partner in the ring and defending the combo.

2nd portion same as the 1st minus the circuit. I worked with Kenny on the ring work and was finding homes for some left and right hooks, and an occasional right uppercut to the body.
