I just joined a local mma gym and I have no lungs! So far I've joined in on the grappling and I could not last a 5 min round. They grapple live five min rounds everyday. So I need to fix this ASAP! I started Saturday with this routine. 5 7 minute rounds of non stop burpees. Than two ten min rounds with the boxing gloves on shadow boxing and sprawling. I'll enter my hearts bpm and what % it is in my logs, and how many burpees I'm getting per set. Any info is welcomed.I also have been on no carbs for 12+ weeks for my own reasons.
Also note I work out with weights 3 days on 1 day off.I won't be keeping this in this journal though. 1- legs, 2- chest/delts, 3- back(pull ups, db rows)/biceps, off, 5- legs, 6-chest/triceps, 7- back weighted pull ups 20 sets of five, dead lifts 3 sets 4-6 reps
well my conditioning is still pretty bad, but a lot better than it was. I think I'll continue with them till they get easy? The goal is to be able to get 60 (or more) in each 7 minute round without being winded.
Did 5 miles m-f last week. This morning was the first session following The Pit Workout dvds. I did disc 3.Puked 12 mins in paused it. Continued on till 24 mins in, puked again, and that was my sessions for tha AM b4 work. This is the conditioning I was looking for, and needed!
Last week I did
Monday- the pit disc 1
Tuesday- the pit disc 2
Wednesday - p90x yoga in the morning. Then the pit disc 3 after work.
Today
I did the pit disc 3 this morning before work. Disc 3 is the most difficult one. I made it all the way through. I am still working on my breathing. That's why I'm adding in the yoga...which is tougher than I expected that's for sure!
Been making some serious progress. My computer crashed so I couldn't continue the pit work outs. Instead m w f I've been doing bas Ruttens all around work out. Last week I was able to grapple live for 4 five minute rounds. I could not complete a single round with out puking prior to doing these workouts. Last night I did the all around work out twice with an hour rest between the two sessions. Just for the hell of it. I'll do my best to keep this updated.
I've ordered the pit so I'll be mixing that in again once it comes in. From the day I started working on my conditioning till now I've made a lot of progress. My goal was to be able to complete five 5 minute rounds of grappling. I can do that now. Now the goal is to be able to go five 5 min rounds balls to the wall. I want to break peoples wills, and push the pace. Nothing to it but to do it!
Last nights cardio sesh
7 three minute rounds Bas Rutten all around fighting
followed by the 28 minute all around workout.
It was rough. I was running on fumes during the all around workout.
Last nights work out I did The pit workout - upper body.
Tonight I will do my best to combine 2 Bas Rutten workouts. The all around fighting for 7 rounds followed by his all around workout. I'm going to sub the bridges with rows or deadlifts.
Yesterdays workout
All around fighting 7 three minute rounds , with gloves, on the bag.
Followed by the all around workout, no gloves, no bag. Still tough for me.
I'm going to start keeping track of my strength work outs now also. I don't max out or anything, but I'll put down my pr's, and current stats that I currently know of.
5'4
146lbs.
Deadlift 315lbs. 2 reps
Squat 315lbs. (tried it for the hell of it at the end of a leg sesh...think I can do a little bit more)
Bench 265lbs. 3 reps ( never attempted anymore than that )
My workout tonight after jitz will be back
Deadlifts 225lbs. 5x5-8
Pulls ups 20 sets 5 reps ( 5 sets wide, 5 sets medium, 5 sets medium reverse grip, and 5 sets reverse close grip. )
